YAAAAY.

And thus the One Piece anime withdrawal was ended.

Apparently they ARE going to try to catch up eventually, so you can probably count on more releases per week/month.

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

The Ghost in the Shell TV series is going to be 52 episodes long, but it's subdivided into two parts: "Stand Alone Complex" and "2nd GIG", each of which are 26 episodes long.

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

Nate, you did it again! After watching the first episode I am totally hooked on One Piece! Now, the only problem is where I'm going to save them as I download them!
Neo Kamidake, Resident Gundam Fanboy

"Lieutenant Amada, I only have one question. Yesssss...all of you shall eventually bend before One Piece's will...it is only a matter of time, bwahaha!

K-F is chugging along at a pretty good pace now. They actually technically released the last two episodes in the same week (85 and 86), so it could very well mean a greater effort to catch up to the Japanese episodes.

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

Took me a while to find but there actually are subs of the last few episodes of Stand Alone Complex...though the last two or three have absolutley horrible translations. Some sentences aren't subtitled at all and some of the subtitles apparently never went through the editing process.

Try the Gungrave anime...it adds about 1000 layers of plot to a somewhat mediocre game. Huh? Oh, yeah...SAC. You can find proper translations of Stand Alone Complex at Laughing Man fansubs. I too originally had those terrible subtitled versions of SAC for a while, but LMF was able to fix that. They also have the first four episodes of Ghost in the Shell 2nd GIG.

gits.no-jutsu.com/gits/

And, yes, Gungrave is very good. Post subject: A couple of things about One Piece
PostPosted: Wed Mar 24, 2004 8:14 pm
I have been watching K-F releases (now up to 8 and I have been watching the current Raws (186 skypie arc) for sometime also. Although I don't speak Japanese I think that I have a pretty good idea of what is going on with the RAWS anyway. The one thing I am worried about is the fact that One Piece really hasn't changed all of that much. You get the feeling that if you haven't seen 100 episodes of the series you still know what is going on and that isn't a good thing.

I am starting to get the impression that Oda is afraid to take some risks with this series which would follow his MO form DBZ. The characters haven't really changed and are following the same old sterotypes that they had in the begining of the series. Also, the same concept is being played over and over again - the standing up for what you believe in and rising to the occassion is getting very old. I also think the series is getting softer and softer...What I really can't stand also is the constant flashbacks that they have every episode which usually means lazyness on the animators part. It really isn't necessary and it mocks the viewers intelligents.

Unfortunatly, these things follow the DB/DBZ MO. And I am worried that One Piece is going to go that route. I guess I would just like to see One Piece get more complex and take some major risks (Major main character Death, Love Triangle, Major betrayal, etc), but usually when a series becomes "popular" in which One Piece is very much so in Japan - that complexity and risks are something that just don't happen.

I still think One Piece is great, but I am very much worried about where the series is going.

I'm not really all too worried just yet, as even though the same theme is prevalent throughout the series the message is forever strong. One Piece, if anything, is about how the characters come together; it's about the adventure and the fun they want to have above all else. That's the biggest difference between it and DBZ. While Dragonball was indeed the same themes and characterizations long throughout, there were no interesting dynamics to keep it interesting. Like Naruto, its main premises of "cool" are in its martial arts and action. The main reason people like One Piece, on the other hand, is loved because of its characters and the explosive personalities they have.

For instance, even after all this time, Luffy has not become so strong or so important that the other characters are overshadowed.

If it's flashbacks you're talking about...then you're probably at the Norton flashbacks in Skypiea. They really don't do that very often, so it never really bothered me.

One Piece never feels old or uninteresting to me; although the characters still have the same basic personalities when we first met them, seeing them all interact time and time again never ceases to delight me.

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

No matter how "explosive" their personalities are, eventually they get old. If they don't change or the characters don't develop after awhile.

I guess I am just dissapointed that the series hasn't stepped up to the next level yet. I thought after the Arlong arc that the series was going to have a complexity and seriousness to it, but if anything it has become less serious and less complex.

I still want to see a "love story", "a major crew member death" and some character development.

I just think that this series is afraid to take some risks.

Wait...you haven't seen or read the Arabasta arc yet, right?

If that's the case, I think all your fears will be alleviated once you see that story unfold. Truly one of the greatest arcs ever in an anime and easily the best arc in One Piece.

Jaganzoku - Clan of the Evil Eye

One Piece was licensed by 4kids. So we all know how the dub is going to turn out. I can't get on K-F website right now which is more disturbing. Hopefully they won't take their torrents down and keep subbing the series. If not hopefully another group will start on episode 98. I don't want to have to purchase the HK dubs.
