I am in love with this anime. Great story telling and heart warming romance are what this anime's strengths.

I dunno...this one is a guilty pleasure for me. I like it for the great art quality and animation and characters but...

At the same time, (and this may be because I've only seen ep1-8) I feel that Ai is so cliched as a character-but maybe that's because she is supposed to be this image of the perfect Japanese traditional woman. I dunno if I like that-maybe its just the awareness I have of feminist movements in Japan that makes it so blatantly obvious to me. It would be insulting even, if I didn't have a carefree side that would allow me to just sit back and enjoy the show for what it is.

But I do have that side, so I do sit back and relax. But I still don't know if in the end Ai Yori Aoshi is anything special, persay.
_____________
"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything."

-Mark Twain
Edited by: AlphaConqerer at: 10/11/04 6:51 pm

I don't know about the feminist movements in Japan, but I can understand what you mean. But their something to be said about being able to staying traditional in the modern day. Aoi isn't being forced to do the things she does but rather enjoys them. This series does have problem, but so does every other series as well. What makes this one stand out is the portrayal of each person's emotions and, while it has its quarks, the story is told very well.

Well, you have your points. =P I just know those aspects of it bug me, but in the end I just want to view the rainbow and not think about how it came about, and rather just appreciate its beauty and that it exists, after all. =D

_____________
"If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything."

-Mark Twain
