I recently bought volumes 9 and 10. I'm just curious if there are any other xxxHolic fans out there, or anyone who'd be interested in being introduced to a GREAT series.

xxxHolic is about a boy named Watanuki who sees spirits. One day, he runs into the shop of the dimension witch Yuko, who runs a shop where wishes are granted. Every wish is exchanged for something of equal value. She says she will help him...if he works for her. The series tells the story of Watanuki, as well as other customers who come to the shop.

I'm not sure what the xxx stands for, but I think it is supposed to represent anything, sort of like a blank space. Yuko specializes in anything and everything after all.

I've read xxxHolic up to vol. 12 but haven't seen the anime. It's interesting and quirky and kinda weird sometimes, but that's what makes me like it. Watanuki does seem to have a very important role to play in the universe, but CLAMP sure does take their time about revealing what that really is. I still want to know, but it's been quite a long wait for vol 13 to come out in English.

Sometimes people that have obsessive fetishes like work are called "workaholics" or love chocolate are called "chocoholics". So the "xxx" is there as a placeholder where you can insert any sort of fetish a person may have. Many of the early stories deal with Watanauki and Yuuko helping people overcome or fail to overcome their "-holics". ^_^
