OK!! NEW Topic! Getting Continuances Straight...

Ok, Tenchi Muyo! is the OAV...understood. What about Tenchi Universe...obviously appears to be an alternate Universe or something. Where do the movies officially fit in?? Tenchi Tokyo *shudders* ....does it continue anything....(I think the question is, should it continue anything). And GXP!! Where does it fit in?? Well, Tenchi Universe seems to be an alternate universe, and two of the movies (not sure which two, I havent seen them) are either continuations of Universe or separate universes in themselves. Also, TiT is definitely a separate universe from the other two. Okay, a new topic that has been done before. Tenchi universes: 1. OVA1,2,3, GXP 2. Galaxy Police Mihoshi's Space Adventure 3. Tenchi Universe, TMIL 1 & 2 Sub-Universes: 4. Aeka's fantasy universe 5. Kiyone's fantasy universe 6. Sasami's fantasy universe 7. Mihoshi's fantasy universe 8. Ryoko's fantasy universe 9. Manatsu no Eve/Daughter of Darkness 10. Shin Tenchi Muyo 11. Mahar Shoujo Pretty Sammy OVA's 12. Mahar Shoujo Pretty Sammy TV/Magical Project S There is enough similarity between #6 and #11 that they could be considered the same universe. This is only the video material, however. Mjhennesy is right. But I have one thing I'd like to switch. And one spelling correction. ^^ Tenchi universes: 1. The OAV Universes: OAV 1, 2, 3, and GXP -2. Galaxy Police Mihoshi's Space Adventure -3. Manatsu no Eve/Daughter of Darkness 4. Tenchi Universes (With all that sub-universe crud included) -5. Tenchi Muyo In Love 1-2 (You will notice that in TMiL 1 Tenchi and the others have 'battlesuits'. This doesn't exist in the normal TU continuum. Additionally, from the ending of TU the two don't really seem to fit. Therefor TMiL is a combination of TU and OAV universes [More of TU than OAV but still]. But in truth it is neither.) 10. Shin Tenchi Muyo 11. Mahou Shoujo Pretty Sammy 12. Mahou Shoujo Pretty Sammy TV/Magical Project S (Stuff I changed: 1. TMiL is not part of the Tenchi Universes 2. Mahar is not a word, Mahou is.) Yup! And at the end of TU only Ryoko and Tenchi remain on Earth. So why would the whole gang be back if TMiL was a continuation? TU ended with pretty good closure. No need for a continuation. INTEL INSIDE It's not a marketing gimick, it's a warning label.

Well, TU ended with major indicators that the entire Tenchi gang was heading back to Earth, so there's always that option. Still, the reason why they wouldn't show the(most likely chaotic) homecoming baffles me.

Let's see. Washu is fired from her new job at the Galactic Science Academy. Shortly thereafter, a light appears behind the closed door to the broom closet in Tenchi's home, indicating that Washu has re-opened the subspace portal between it & her lab. Ayeka & Sasami run away from Jurai to return to Tenchi, and Kiyone & Mihoshi return to their apartment on Earth. It is only  implied that the rest of the Tenchi gang returned after the end of TU. The actual details are never shown, only Tenchi and Ryoko walking in the cherry blossoms, so romantic! <CENTER><img src=http://users.adelphia.net/~henheart/images/siggy4.jpg> Please .. don't force me to shoot you .. because .. if I do it's gonna really hurt!</CENTER>

Of course I saw TU once, that's all I needed to appreciate it's badness. It still doesn't change that TMiL and TU probably aren't in the same continuum. And it doesn't explain why Tenchi doesn't favor Ryoko. That was a pretty 'charged' final scene between the two. But in the movie it's back to business as usual, right? Animation-wise, I feel TMiL followed the TV series, while Manatsu No Eve followed the OAV style, and Tenchi Forever seemed to resemble Shin Tenchi Muyo! mostly. However, story-wise Tenchi Forever most definitely follows Tenchi Universe. Aside from being specifically billed as the conclusion to TU, there's the fact that the knights Azaka & Kamidake are in it. The TMIL 2/Tenchi Forever story gets its kernel from TU. In episode 22 Yosho finally reveals his true indentity and tells the story of his arrival on earth. He said  "I arrived on earth after a long and wandering journey. My heart was heavy and grief-stricken ...". The reason for this was never explained until the story of TMIL 2 was written, or it may have been written for TU but for some unknown reason was never used. <CENTER><img src=http://users.adelphia.net/~henheart/images/siggy4.jpg> Please .. don't force me to shoot you .. because .. if I do it's gonna really hurt!</CENTER>
