Kagato's Son!?

*Is currently spazzing out* I was searching the web for Tenchi pics and I ran across a few Kagato pictures... with his son! This is from some sort of manga or artbook or something, but I'd like to know what the hell is going on! Red is exactly right. The pictures are from what some may interpret as a "side story" to the OAV. We had this topic a looooonnng time ago. It's nice to see some interesting posts that haven't been brought up in a long time. INTEL INSIDE It's not a marketing gimick, it's a warning label.

*deep breath* Anyone care to let me know just how many spin offs and novels or whatever there are out there? I've been a Tenchi fan for... *counts on fingers* about 3 years now, the majority of which I knew nothing besides the TV show.

These are also probably characters from a manga the creators had nothing to do with. They're not from the manga by Hitoshi Okudo (or however you spell it) but the style looks like it was from a manga.

I've not only seen these pictures, but I've read the manga. It is from the No Need For Tenchi! manga series #8 Chef of Iron. Though this guy resembles Kagato, it is NOT Kagato. His name is Kagato-Kun, a master chef with his 11 year old boy Kagato. These people are to no relation to the Kagato WE know. They are just chefs competing againest Sasami. <img src=http://www.strike9.com/file.aspx/path=/Chelsea/fullsize/aaawashuanimation128.gif>Awww, how can you hate a gif like that?

Ok, if that's not chara reuse I don't know what is! Yeesh! If it is indeed NOT Kagato, then it's a total retread of Kagato, especially that first pic. It's still a retread. So if a character's son looks a lot like him, that makes the son a retread? I've never read the novels, so I can't make any meaningful judgement on Kagami, but saying he's a retread based on nothing but his physical appearance is pretty shallow. Now, if he also acts just like Kagato and has the exact same goals, THAT would make him a retread.
