Is there a bond between Ryoko and Ayeka?

Hey, I was wondering if Ryoko and Ayeka had a bond between them. In the OAV, how could ryoko know Ayeka was coming, when she asked Tenchi to protect her, how long have they known each other? Also could there be achance that Ryoko at one time lived on Juria? It would seem easyer for her to attack when she is living there, especially when she came under Kagatos' control. Thanks for your time.

I'm pretty sure that Ryoko and Ayeka had never met in the OAV continuity prior to episode 2. During her attack on Jurai, Ryoko  did shoot down a partially-completed Ryu-oh, but she & Ayeka never met face to face. And it's highly unlikely that Ryoko ever lived on Jurai, given that Kagato took control of her very shortly after her birth, and Ryoko was presumably born either at the Galaxy Academy, in Washu's subspace lab, or on board Souja. And in order to get to Jurai for her attack, Ryoko had to fight her way through their space fleet, which she decimated. My guess would be that she knew Ayeka was coming through a connection of sorts. The connection from her to the gems to Tenchiken to the Royal Trees. I think she sensed that *someone* was coming, and perhapes guessed that it was Ayeka. Is there a bond. The thing is, Yorokobi, at that time Ryoko had no gems. actually ryoko and ayeka did kno eachotha. in ep 2 ayeka says "so we meet again Ryoko" everyone knew who Ryoko was n @#%$, but remember kagato was one who @#%$ it all up and sent her on rampage 1st B Co. 106th Aviation BN, Midway Airport, Chicago, IL. They had a brief battle on Jurai, but both Ryoko & Ayeka were in their spaceships during that fight. You have a point Red, but for some reason I feel like Ryoko would have some connection to the gems even if she didn't physically possess them. On the other hand UA has an interesting report. I don't know if the connotation is different in the Japanese, but the tone and tenor of Ayeka's interrogation of Ryoko suggests they were previously acquainted (and more than a brief spaceship battle). Oh well, Kajishima isn't going to back away from his published back-story, so I guess we are stuck with it. It appears that during the attack on Jurai, Ryoko and Ayeka hurled verbal barbs at each other via viewscreen during their battle (ala the end of episode 2). So they had communicated before. Summarizing Tatsumingo: Ayeka had embarked in an unfinished Ryu-Oh to intercept Ryo-Ohki. Ryoko toyed with her, until Ayeka was furious enough to attempt a reckless attack with the Light Hawk Wings, which dutifully malfunctioned. Ryoko joked that Ayeka was so scary, so frightful when she loses her control. (I wonder if that incident was introduced specifically to rationalize the beginning of episode 2.) Anyway... Perhaps without her gems, Ryoko still had the telepathic link to Ryo-Ohki, who knew (via long range sensors) that a Jurain ship was approaching. She needed a gem, however, to power up Ryo-Ohki and gain full control. (Seto apparently believed that the gems were the power source for both Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki.)

Wow, all of the posts have good points. I still think that they have known each other still, but who knows. I think that it would be interseting if they had known each other, makes them have a lot more depth to the two characters.
