For the most part, I can overlook the faults in TU, and enjoy it. The characters are simpler than their OAV counterparts (in more ways than one, in Mihoshi's case), but it's still an entertaining series. But "No Need for Hunger" needs to be wiped from existance.

The Happy Couple

|

It's still better than No Need for Resident Officers.

Sure, it's non-stop character bastardisation, but at least it's at times mildly entertaining and isn't just 20-odd minutes of Kiyone bitching about how much she dislikes the situation she's in.
---------------------

"Was it the riches of the land, powers of bright darkness, who lead the noble to the East, to fight the heathens... I tend to agree with you guys. Tenchi Universe had many more good episodes then bad ones, so as a whole, I find it is a good series. Shin Tenchi Muyo was just the opposite, flip everything around.

Uh, what's with the nurse's outfit Washu-chan?

|

From what I've seen so far of Shin Tenchi, I didn't think it was really all that bad.

Does it get worse after episode 10 or something?
---------------------

"Was it the riches of the land, powers of bright darkness, who lead the noble to the East, to fight the heathens... Well one thing I didn't like about ST is that the monters were like Salior Moonish stuff. Also the fact that Tenchi just seems to pick up people that have no life beyond him.

I am the one.

I am Tsunami's apprentice.

I am one of the few

able to produce

10 Light Hawk Wings!!
|

The Tenchi kissing Sakuya thing wouldn't exactly have thrilled me regardless, but that's not sufficient reason for me to hate the series. The fact that all of the characters, both those established in previous series and those created for Shin, were so completely lacking in depth, however, is sufficient reason. With the same basic story, but with characters that were more than cardboard cut-outs (and preferably with monster-of-the-day crap removed), Shin Tenchi could've been like TU. Not as good as the OAV, but still a good, entertaining series. In other words, what it needed was writers that didn't suck.

The Happy Couple

|

They really just changed too much in STM, so much that it is hardly recognizable as Tenchi Muyo. They wanted to make something new, but it didn't work though. I can understand why the producers would want to make a new story, you can only milk the same old storyline for so long before the fans become disinterested. However they changed too much, the story, the characters, the setting, and even the animation artwork itself. All that really needed to be changed was to invent a new story, and that shouldn't have been so difficult.

Uh, what's with the nurse's outfit Washu-chan?

|

I found the whole damn thing boring, other than maybe 5 episodes. No Need For a Ghost LITERALLY put me to sleep. No Need For Resident Officers COULD have been a good episode to build characters on, but it ended up being a 20 minute bitch fest. The Swimsuit episode COULD have redeemed the thing, BUT IT WAS BORING TOO!!! Out of all those episodes, only the last 4 or 5 stand out as GREAT shows. And only 6 more are really anything resembling good. The rest is KAKA!! Oh, it enraged me. But it is better than Shin Tenchi, yes. And yeah, it goes COMPLETELY down hill after episode 10. It was at least AVERAGE until then, really. The episode where the Demon that Yugi killed in the last episode, the one with Black hair, where she hired Mihoshi, Kiyone, Ayeka, and Ryoko to BUILD her monster! THAT WAS HORRIBLE. OH GOD, YUCK. And the ending BLOWS. After all that Yugi was capable of, I think it would have taken MORE than that to stop her!! I mean, she had the ability to CREATE for God's sake, and yet she is stopped by Tenchi running at her with a ridicoulously large sword that serves no purpuse in the entire serious other than to look cool, drops it, and slaps her. ARGH!! IT BLEW HARD. You have not been poisoned yet if you stopped at EP 10, RUN AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!

|
