The 1st and 3rd movies (Tenchi Muyo in Love 1&2) are in Tenchi Universe.

I guess you could say the 2nd (Manatsu no Eve / Daughter of Darkness) is in the "Hasegawa Continuity" -- OAV 1 + Naoko Hasegawa's novels?

(Wish I knew more about Hasegawa's novels...)

Kiyone is in the second movie because she was added to the novels later on.
Goofing Off Place pub55.ezboard.com/bgoofingoffplace

Kiyone is in the novels because she is a character created by Hasegawa.
That's why she's in the Mihoshi special.

Galaxia's Kagato Page
Anime Garden
kagatosfangirl@yahoo.co.uk

Anime Community Where Luna's body went.

Well...according to animation and plot and character development, I'd say the first movie best represents the TV series, while Manatsu No Eve (AKA Daughter of Darkness) comes from the OAV. Tenchi Muyo in Love 2...I'd say it resembles the TV series, but the graphics look a lot closer to the Shin Tenchi saga more than anything.

Edited by: Kamidake88 at: 10/31/02 6:06:09 pm

DoD is probably more related to the OVA because for one: the lighthawk wings are in it.

DoD is part of the Hasegawa novels universe. This was a branch off of the OVA universe. The origins of the Hasegawa novels are in the OVA's, but that's it. It is not a continuation if the OVA universe, sort of parallel to it.

Though I dream, cry, and get hurt, and reality approaches now, frantically, I can't lose my place in life and my self-worth just to protect myself.

Anime Community Where Luna's body went.

Kamidake, there's absolutely no way Tenchi Forever can be placed in any continuity other than TU. It's obviously not Shin Tenchi, because of Yosho being a Juraian prince and the presence of Tenchi-ken, and it can't be part of the OAV because Tenchi-ken is the TU version. Also, the Juraian knights Azaka and Kamidake make an appearance, and they only exist in TU.

<img src="http://img2.ranchoweb.com/images/redxiv/ryoko2.gif" style="border:0;height:81;width:73;"alt="Ryoko Hakubi"/><img src="http://img2.ranchoweb.com/images/redxiv/akaijuyon.gif" style="border:0;height:20;width:91;"alt="Red XIV"/><img src="http://img2.ranchoweb.com/images/redxiv/tenchi2.gif" style="border:0;height:95;width:63;"alt="Tenchi Masaki"/>

The Happy Couple

Red, I merely said that the graphics from the third movie had resembled Shin Tenchi's, not the entire plot.

Are the Hasegawa novels only in Japanese? If so will they be translated?
#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#
NEWS: · CNX is here!!!!! · CB and OS unedited at prime time!!! · Nabeshin’s Afro rules!! Well, Kamidake, you also indicated that you thought the plot was OAV-like.

<img src="http://img2.ranchoweb.com/images/redxiv/ryoko2.gif" style="border:0;height:81;width:73;"alt="Ryoko Hakubi"/><img src="http://img2.ranchoweb.com/images/redxiv/akaijuyon.gif" style="border:0;height:20;width:91;"alt="Red XIV"/><img src="http://img2.ranchoweb.com/images/redxiv/tenchi2.gif" style="border:0;height:95;width:63;"alt="Tenchi Masaki"/>

The Happy Couple
