Same here! Man, this is perfect. In the fanfic that I have been planning, Kagato comes back as the avatar of Tokimi, while a character that I am creating will be Washu's avatar, and Tenchi is (DUH!) Tsunami's avatar. Well, it IS a fanfic that I have been tinkering with. Before reading, you must understand that in my story, the 3 Goddesses were willed into existence by the universe to create order from chaos. Washu had the poweer of destrucion, Tsunami was creation, and Tokimi was balance. Tokimi later becomes jealous of the other two, and wishes to dominate the universe. Basically, my new character (lets call him Rei) was selected by Washu as her avatar. When Washu was subverted by Tokimi, Rei was sealed away inside a large crystal in our universe. Now, Rei was originally a living being (physical age about 25), and was one of the elite royal guards of his race (I haven't figured out a name for Washu's now-extinct chosen race, same for Tokimi). Washu selects him as her avatar several thousand years before the first conflict between the Goddesses. With the position, naturally, came incredible levels of "spirit energy" that over time degraded his physical body to the point where he was basically considered to be a high-level entity, with nothing remaining of his original body. Rei's cells (this is where I take a radical departure from the actual events of the OAV continuum) are heavily mutated, and it is from his cells that the mass are derived. Now, with the escalating agression of Tokimi on Washu and Tsunami, Washu plans to replace Tokimi by creating another Goddess to take her place - Ryoko, who genetic design is an assimilation of Washu and Rei. This plan never goes into effect, as Tokimi becomes wise of the plot, and acts on removing Washu and Tsunami from the picture. Thus, a gigantic war ensues, with no apparent victor. In the aftermath, Washu is stripped of her power, and Tsunami is sealed into a parallel dimension. Washu gets the last laugh, since her last act was the creation of the three gems and the record of Ryoko's genetic "instrucion manual", and sealing away Rei so that her plan would eventually come to fruition, once Rei was awakened. As for Tokimi, Washu's chosen race sacrificed their existence, sealing away Tokimi and her minions in a sepreate dimension, with only Tokimi's spirit able to transcend the barrier. The only surviving race was the infant Jurains, and a handful of Washu's chosen survived, but eventually died out. As we all know, the gems and the info on Ryoko was uncovered by Washu (completely unknowing that it was her creation), and Rei was awakened by the immense power displayed by Tenchi when he fought Kagato. This series of events awakens Rei, and he begins to seek revenge on Tokimi....<br><br>This is the basic plan of the history behind my fanfic. <p></p><i></i>

Avalon, the traditional definition of a demi-god is the offspring of a god or goddess and a mortal. Ryoko is obviously the daughter of a goddess, but she has no mortal father, so it's not unreasonable to say that she's a goddess as well. Just as Athena was created fully formed by her father Zeus, Ryoko was created fully formed by Washu. No one argues that Athena was merely a demi-goddess because she had only one divine parent, so why would it be different for Ryoko (whose mother was a much higher-level divinity than a mere planetary god like Zeus <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> ).<br><br>Also, I'm not sure if the distinction you're trying to make even exists. I would think that Washu's power <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>is</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> her divinity, and vice versa. You can't have one without the other. If Washu were to reclaim that power, she would be a goddess again, but as of now, she's not. It's quite reasonable to say that, when she gave the gems to Ryoko, Washu also passed on her position as a goddess to her, whether she realized it or not. Now this is more like it, I love discutions like this! I don't know much about Greek gods but what I do know is that (off topic time) Zeus was once human, how did he get his godly powers? You could say the same with Washu and sisters, who was their father or mother (if there is one)?
