Ah, but I believe the Vandels, the Huns, and the Saxons, pre-dated them. (I could be wrong - it's been a long time since a college campus has been graced by my shadow! lol!) I am almost positive the Saxons invaded England first, only to be thrown out by William the Conqueror, a Norman from what is now Normandy region of France (but not sure of the Norman invasion of France! We aren't taught that here!), after the death of Edward the confessors with no legal heir, claiming the throne as an illegitimate son. the "F" word has too many dubious reported origions to nail one down. "Ass" has always been a donkey - and has a very close German translation. (and the Saxons were From Germany!) English is a Germanic language, after all! The Normans introduced the French, or Romantic, languages to the region! ....and yes, I am a girl. married(to a man, a real man!)....with children! Can't a girl shoot trap? I'm really good!  Chan! that's my husband's favorite line by Washu! I love it as well! No! Chan!

Yeah, I knew that. Just Normady was on the coast of France. Oh, and dude the British spoke English. The British were a Celtic people and they spoke English. When the Saxons, Jutes, Friccians, and Angles came over they adopted the English language. Also the Saxons and Angles united to become Anglo-Saxons. And then since they were more dominant they named their new territory Angleland and then sooned turn into England. Just a little fun fact! |
