for those of you who watched eps 1 of OVA 3, what do you think?<br><br>I cant believe the ending of it=( I dont think it is his mom though, I think it might be that new female character that you see in GXP but I could be wrong.<br><br>I think the next eps will tell us what truely happened to tenchis mother. I think she gave her life to give tenchi the gifts thta he has today....but we gotta way until Nov 21st when the next dvd comes out to find out=( <p></p><i></i> |

The most popular speculation on this is that this is Kiyone's sister who'd been cut off from the family -- a girl named Amame. I think the music used in the flashbacks was completely wrong though. And the flashbacks possibly could have been trimmed (not the "new" flashbacks mind you). <br><br>The family theme was great, especially seeing Ryoko in a mother role, something she's purposely (and selfishly) avoided until now. <br><br>What "Z" plans to do will be interesting. There is a doujinshi by Kajishima spelling out what *might* happen in regards to the letter "Z" sent out. K-san did the doujinshi a while back as a possible story for OAV 3. Hmm that could be, she could be there to tell him what really did happen to his mother. But then that means Yosho had two daughters which they have never mentioned before.<br><br>I bet they will probably have the 2nd eps translated within a week after it is out=) <p></p><i></i> |

It takes a while to do an episode. First, FoT is importing the DVD from Japan. So it doesn't get sent out until it is released in Japan (AIUI) and thus takes time to get here. After that, it takes time to translate, edit, encode, etc. and get it out. FoT took three weeks to get v1 of episode 14 out. I liked it, although I think they could have done without all those flashbacks to the earlier episodes. It made the episode seem a lot shorter than 40 minutes.<br><br>That said though, I thought it was overall good, and I am definatly looking forward to the later episodes, expecially since those flashbacks SHOULD be gone now. <br><br>Heh, at first I forgot that the tenchi movies were based off of TU, I was slightly confused when Tenchi didn't know what happened to his mother. <p></p><i></i> |

2 of the Tenchi movies are based off of TU and the middle movie "Daughter of Darkness" is based off of Hasegawa Universe. She wrote the scripts for the first six OAV episodes, then wrote a series of novels where she introduced GXP Officer Kiyone to the world. So DoD is based off of her novels.<br><br>Back to TM!R canon material, the flashbacks may have been more for the benifit of the Japanese audience than the American one. That said, K-san must have felt it important to remind folks of these events. All I have to say is that I am very grateful that they are contining the series. And that its about time. Glad to have some new "tenchi" stuff to talk about and hopefully regenerate the board. <br><br>Some things I noticed. First off the animation looks like it has improved over the original oav, much more smooth looking. Which is very surprising because I was dreading a TIT animation style for the new OAV. In otherwords quality didn't seem to be lacking when compared to the original OAV's. They tried to keep it the same and they did a good job. <br><br>Tenchi looks a little different then before. It kind of looks like he has put on some weight. <br><br>Wow, I am glad that the flash backs will be over since it took up half of an episode. <br><br>Can't wait for the next episode. If that is tenchi's mother - wow what a surprise I wouldn't have expected that. Assuming that it is his mom what was up with Royko's expression? I am curious if their is some kind of past with Royko and Tenchi's mom. Can't wait for the new episode. <p></p><i></i> |

I thought they did a revamp of Tokimi and her assistant guy, if I remember in the 2nd OVA they just appeared and didn't really move. I was happy to see that they actually have facial expressions and such, they seemed a lot more fluid in this episode. <p></p><i></i> |

Fist of all. I gotta say. Thanks a lot for the link to the 1st OAV3 episode. <br><br>I loved it. A great 1st episode to the 3rd installment. I agree though The flashbacks of the older episodes where a bit too long. But I can understand putting them in.<br><br>Seeing Ryoko act like a mother was very cool. The animation does look smoother. I love it. It looks like the same animation as the 1st and 2nd OAV only better. Yay! I finally was able to download the first episode of OVA 3!! I downloaded it from the link provided in the "Here's your Tenchi Muyo OVA 3 eps goodness" post. Unfortunately, my avi had no audio.<br><br>However, I enjoyed the episode thouroughly. I agree that the flashbacks were overdone, but it was good to see some scenes from the good ol' days. <br><br>The animation indeed seemed higher quality than the earlier OVAs, but I resent that they deviated, however slightly, from the original character designs. The faces are now more rounded at the cheeks, narrowing at the chin, giving the characters more heart-shaped faces that make them appear childish. Not to mention Ryoko's excessively floppy ears.<br><br>Oh, and who is that guy shown at the beginning? The one with the green hair?<br><br>Despite the lack of sound, I found myself laughing throughout the episode.
