yep i had a very similar idea. defiantly a first person. also i think a lil fling in the story would be awesome too. to show that there was someone before tenchi. maybe use that Ibara character. |

This idea (and plot) among many other things always kinda gave me the idea (or intention) that OVA3 WASNT the last time we are going to see Tenchi Muyo animated, and i dont mean Seikishi either, theres enough untold backstories and the like to make a whole nother series, or 2.... Plus with Tenchi still being a moneymaker in japan... Like someone said in an earlier post (something about star wars). even though star wars is over, how many times have they (and still are) creating and showing stories from the clone wars?, and how many sub plots have been made from them, even created by different people? I would quote myself, lol but if someone wanted to animate another spinoff or side story, it wouldnt be that hard, sure it would be non canon but it would certainly get the foul taste of OVA3 out of our systems and dont say "its beating a dead horse" when Tenchi Muyo COLLECTIVLY passes 400+ epsiodes and or 10 movies (One Piece, DBZ, and Inuyasha all do this by themselves), then i'll call it a dead horse |

I would love for that someone behind the side/backstories to be Hayashi, to be honest with ya. I wouldn't trust Kaji with it as far as I could throw him at this point, but Hayashi is the person most in on the very first original material other than Kaji. Especially considering from what I've heard he had something to do with the harem not being as dominant in the beginning, I'd say he's easily the best person for the job if he's willing to sweep off the dust after all these years. |

I agree with you alot, Hayashi-Sensei could easily bring the series back on its toes, OVA1 is evidence that he would do a good job, you know i think at this point, almost any of the people creatively associated with Tenchi (Negishi, Hayashi, Hasegawa, hell even Takamoto from TiT) would do a better job if they decided to pull another project together |

Oh, I would love for Hayashi to do a spinoff. The first episode of Tenchi has always been my favorite, and the first OVA is my favorite of the Tenchi series in general. I think he would do great things with a spinoff. The only problem that I can think of is the animation style. I don't like the style of the 3rd OVA. It would be nice if they could do it in a cel-shaded style that looks similar to the old days. |

Unfortunately, traditional cel animation is all but gone as a technology having been replaced with less expensive and more versatile computer animation. I wouldn't lose all hope because computer animation has been getting better over time. All it will take is a producer to put more emphasis on artistic styling as opposed to whiz-bang special effects and I think you could get a really beautiful show out of it. |

I'm pretty sick of computer animation. I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but I don't feel the same sense of character when things are computer-generated. Even the phrase "computer-generated" makes me think of the word "fake". The shows on Cartoon Network now are pretty appalling; all it would take to surpass 100% of shows today would be the faintest glimmer of outside-thinking, storywriting, and traditional animation. Perhaps a bit of mature humour here and a bit of silly humour there, and you'd have a winner. Anyone remember Batman: The Animated Series? That was just the coolest thing ever. It had solid, mature storylines, a great cast, and awesome film-noir animation... even the opening theme gives me chills: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEx9r5enZsk Whoa. I digress. I wish the Choushin would just come down and turn back time, back to the end of OVA2! YOU HEAR ME TOKIMI?! On another topic, I was having a random thought - imagine if, when Tenchi got sliced in half in OVA3, Ryoko went royally berserk like she did with Kagato, only more so. So much that her powers went through the dimensions as well.. |

You know why they initially took Toonami off the air on weekdays? it wasnt because of ratings, it was because of the latest show they had put on, Ruroni Kenshin was too violent, and that they had "gotten complaints" In other words they killed off a block of TV that had outstanding ratings all because they thought it was too violent, give me a break Likewise, not to offend any fellow Canada tenchi fans, but the majority of the shows that run the block nowadays and what seemingly brought the "Teen Drama" BS were shows like 6Teen, TDI, and Johnny Test, they were all exports from Canadian broadcasting, tisk, tisk, tisk (jk but seriously they are all canadian) lol anywho, I think after awhile, it'll catch back on and we will get some decent anime back on TV, and by decent i mean not computer generated, theres a reason all the classics werent comp generated, yea, would Vash the Stampede have been as AMAZINGLY BA while comp generated, nope |
