Kagato did, however, have a personality. Something Kain lacked.

|

Quote:
Kagato did, however, have a personality. Something Kain lacked.

That's very true. Of course all we did see of who KAIN was that he was a "bad guy" who was VERY bent on revenge at the expense of all else. KAIN at least as a visual is far more interesting and creative than Kagato.

Although Kagato is pretty interesting looking as well. He isn't as 'original' as KAIN who, if provided, with more development would be a much better bad guy.

Of course if you are looking for something without this whole Good v. Evil thing. And looking for characters that get more than shallow development you're in the wrong genre.

I suggest you either go to Shoujo or find some Shounen that focuses a bit more on characters and less on comedy.
INTEL INSIDE
It's not a marketing gimick, it's a warning label.
|

Kain really isn't that original either. He reminds me a lot of the the liquid metal T1000 in Terminator 2. That was a great film and the T1000 was a great villian. His motives were very clearly defined and rational (he's a machine of course) and not based on emotion (hate, revenge) like Kain.

I've never regretted anything I've ever done in my entire life
|

A good place to start for "baddies" that make black and white more grey-ish is Escaflowne. A GREAT place to start for a shounen show that takes some shoujo influences and creates a great show.

Stig opp på min trone bleke lik
Fall på kne er død i ett foran mine føtter
Ta imot mitt kalde kyss på din panne
Jeg har lagt veien som fører til Helvete klar

|

Well, as far as power and destructive force goes, Kain is second worst after Kagato. I put Kagato first...'cause...*jumps in the air*...he's so cool!! Oops, that was probably not an appropriate response...hmm...

But, seriously, Kagato is the best...he's got the mandatory accent, nothing-can-harm-me-'cause-Im-so-bad attitude, he's a genius, power-hungry, and has all the wrong intentions ^^

|

I thought Kagato was the best villain in the series for the same reasons as RM. The whole reason why he's not a choice is because I wanted to see who would win if Kagato wasn't a competior.
Perverted, ain't I?
<img src=http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian/kingston/196/wib25.jpg
|

I would like to see Kain appear on OAV or GXP, that would be neat. I duno, just an idea.

|

It's hard to think of Tokimi as evil, but I guess there had to be at least one bad goddess out of the three...

Yakage was a pretty good villain in the manga as well. I think he wasn't as big a threat as Kain or even Kagato, but there was a flair about him that made him menacing. I admired his determination to surpass Washu with his creations, but fell tragically short. And he did give Ryoko and Tenchi quite a fight, putting their swordsmanship to the test.

"Love is a battlefield..."

|
