I have the three movies, but I've never gotten around to watching the third one (TF). I think TMIL is the best of them, but of course it doesn't follow the cannon and I still put the OVA as the best by far of the bunch.

I do wish the Tenchi novels that are detailed by AstroNerdBoy on his site (Tenchi Muyo FAQ affiliate link on the left side of the page here) would be translated into English. I'd love to get those, but alas, I cannot read Japanese. Hopefully someone will bring them here.

Right now, there's not much going for Tenchi stuff as a whole. Maybe Sci-Fi will re-air it with their Ani-Monday and Tuesday animation blocks. I have given up on Cartoon Network doing it since they are too focused on Naruto fillers and other shows at the moment.

TF is a love story, and it's slower than the others. TMiL 1 is definitely the best of the three, followed by TF. Manatsu no Eve is a good movie, just not as good as the others.

i always thought the first movie had the best story progression, it felt like when you sat down and watched it, you were in a theater and were just consumed in it, i will say though Manatsu no Eve, is probobly tied for first for me though simply because i adore Youzuha's VA (Did the same voice as Naota in FLCL) and it was less about the adventure and more the family

As far as Series go, gotta give it up for Tenchi Universe, i love the OVA's but being a Ryoko fan, that series always has a soft spot for me because it played right into Ryoko's hand

I liked OVA 1 best of all. Universe is a very close second though.

As for movies, I always liked Manatsu no Eve best because it was such a Tenchi/Ryoko movie. That scene on the roof is one of the only times I think that Tenchi ever initiated contact with Ryoko first. He put his arm around her and she leaned against him.

Tenchi Forever is the Tenchi movie I enjoy most. I'm a sucker for such things.

I recently rewatched that and i'm going to say TMiL2 is my favorite of the 3 now, it just hits a chord in you, yea i'll say it i'm a sucker for Tenchi/Ryoko

I liked TMiL2 for the fairly obvious "choosing" of Ryoko. I think the story kind of dragged on in places though, and Ryoko looked nowhere near as glamorous as she did in OVA1. Still overall it was a good watch.

I think the pacing of TMiL1 was very good, and Achika's character is awesome. IMO I think she really should have been Tenchi's mother.

OVA1 is something I could watch on and on until the end of time though.

Well like i said earlier, the ONLY thing that i feel TMiL1 lacked was any kind family setting between the characters, like Ryoko and Aeka only fought like once, and most of the characters were all over the place headstrong on there mission, lol which at the same time is kinda cool because there actually set on this mission and its different, Achika definetly should have been tenchi;s mom, she whupped Kain and saved everybody, cant beat that

Likewise, Ova 1 NEVER gets old, i think in the past month alone i've watched it at least 6 times,

I still need to recollect my OVA dvds from my friend. >_>

TMiL 2 (or Forever) gets better each time you watch it IMO. The pacing seems better.

Its a great movie no matter how many times you watch it

and yea, those DVD's are both too expensive and too awesome to not have, lol

Well Ryoko would, lol if i remember correctly she said to Aeka "Fine, you go first, then its my turn" haha
