Tenchi Muyo Ryo-ohki OAV 3 was licensed by funimation according to animsuki licensing database.

v2.animesuki.com/licensed...wse=recent

Sad news, hopefully one of the 5 groups will still continue to sub the series. If their "was any" justification for continuing to sub a series after it has become licensed it for sure is Tenchi Muyo Ryo-ohki OAV 3 just for the fact that they made the fans wait nearly a decade to continue the series. Now if no group continues to sub the series - we will have to wait even longer to see it. The real sad thing about it is that funimation got the rights and they are just as horrible as 4 kids in my opinion who got One Piece which is also very sad.

Actually both companies are sucky as hell. Funimation promised that they'd try and get all the original voice actors back. But as their current track record stands, they'll just lie so they can use the cheap voice actors they use for all their f***ing dubs.

Formerly Known as SSJ_Trunks.

Catch Chrono Trigger As It Should've Been. Triggered

They all suck, but ADV sucks the most (for other reasons)! Subtitles all the way to hell with dubbed anime!

Keeper, I don't think you are giving dubbing a far chance. In the past few years dubbing have become vastly better than it has been. I have mixed feelings about weather I like dubbing or subbing more than the other but its a personal preferance. I'm not saying that you have to like US dubbed anime but isn't saying @#%$ all US dubs going a little far?

"Logic only gives a man what he needs."
"Magic gives him what he wants."

Going to far - not really. I can't stand dubbed anime. I can't stand how "americanized" an anime becomes when it is dubbed to english. I feel alot of the Japanese culture and what is really trying to be relayed is lost in the dubbing process. Unlike subtitles which are pretty much word for word. Dubbed anime tends to make the language flow more smoothly and lineup lip movement, but in the process alot of the original script is lost and alot of the emotion in the anime is lost. Example, Yu Yu Hakusho. Is the story pretty much the same Dubbed vs Subbed yes, but alot of the emotion and original meaning behind what is actually being said is "stretched or shrunk" (changed is to strong of a word).

Being a long time anime fan. I have alot of problems with these companies for other reasons. The constant delays of being able to get the product produced. In alot of cases it takes years. And once its produced "if popular" becomes backorder right away. Also, the ridiculus amount of money that it costs to buy an anime DVD because of these companies, who are just middle men IMO. (not to mention shipping costs). The fact that the original makers of the anime that the rights are purchased from don't see hardly any if "any" of that $25 dorllars for that DVD that ADV/Funimation make or the original purchase of the anime rights. I find it really amazing that these companies are making record profits while anime producers and makers are struggling to get by. Also, the crap that these companies have been giving to fansub group has really pissed me off. This is why I will not buy a damn thing from ADV again so long as I live.

Agree with you on just about everything you said. I was just trying to point out how much dubs have improved. I'm not saying they are good, just that they have improved. And I refuse to buy any more anime out of stores for upwards $30 per DVD. Bittorrent is the way to go.

I used to like dubbed because I didn't have to read the subtitles. Now though I'd rather watch a subbed anime than a dubbed one but I can't explain why. It may be because the original script is more entertaining and I subconsciously know that, or it may be others' influence that makes my decision sway toward subs.

I'd watch an anime if it was dubbed and I don't really take notice to how much culture is lost and how much the story changes (unless I watch something dubbed then subbed straight after). More people buy dubbed than subbed so companies such as ADV or Funimation would sell the dubbed rather than the subbed to make more profit because they know that the people who would rather watch subbed would also buy the anime because the subbed version isn't released and the person wants the anime. I do think that the voice acting usually sucks and if they are going to dub it they should pay for better voice actors and maybe the anime would sell more.

I'm not too bothered about whether the anime is dubbed or subbed but I can see why some people are. To me it's the story and characters that count and they don't change, even if some of the script changes the story and character personalties stay the same other than a few changed lines.

blank

Just do what i do, buy bootlegs from Hong Kong, they've got the dubbed/subbed dvd sets for like 25 bucks for the whole series.

Formerly Known as SSJ_Trunks.

Catch Chrono Trigger As It Should've Been. Triggered

I know what you mean, CY. ^.^ I prefer subbed because the voice acting is *much* better, and I can actually see what the original director wanted the characters to say. Honestly, I can count the number of dubbed versions I actually think are decent on one hand.

It goes either way. Like when I got the whole series of Cowboy Beebop on DVD, it was a great offer on amazon to buy the whole series, I watched the whole series subbed first to see the show the way it was ment to. Then afterwards whenever I wanted to watch an episode I usully watch dubbed though I still go and watch subbed sometimes too. Most of the time though I'm just too lazy to read subtitles but I have to say Cowboy Beebop's dubbing is well done.

I am the one.

I am Tsunami's apprentice.

I am one of the few

able to produce

10 Light Hawk Wings!!

I agree, generally I like to watch the sub but many anime series now have good dubs and I often watch them too. Some, for example Cowboy Bebop, have an even better dub than sub in my opinion.

In fact I can only think of a few series with a really terrible dub (that I have seen anyway). The main thing I find is you don't notice really terribly cheesy lines as much when reading a sub as when listening to a dub so this sometimes makes a dub seem worse when its really very similar to the sub ^_^

~ Links ~
[ Dreams of Twilight | Tenchi Board ]

The dub for the first two OAVs of Tenchi Muyo is well done from what I can recall, I haven't seen an episode in years.

I am the one.

I am Tsunami's apprentice.

I am one of the few

able to produce

10 Light Hawk Wings!!

Personally, I like the dub for every Tenchi Muyo. I really like Mike Miller as a voice actor. lol When I was playing FFX and FFX-2 and Clasko came into the scene I was like hey its Tenchi!

I hope they get the original voices too... but Funimation sucks, so they probably wont.
