First of all, hello all, I've been out for a few months due to a lack of a remotely good internet connection, but I am back on now. <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> <br><br>Aight, well, back to the topic. I watched the new OVA epps over the summer, which I got way back when I last had high speed internet... and they just seem pretty dull compared to the first two OVAs. <br><br>Not to sound too corny here, but the originals are classics. Each episode really seemed to draw you into the show, everything was plotted out real well, and the characters were great.<br><br>The new OVA just seems to be missing all of that. The characters just seem to be thrown together without a lot of care, and the plot seems messy and rushed together. I was sitting there partially confused because the show just was not running together very well.<br><br>For example, when it was first revealed that Tenchi was assigned a fiance, Ryoko and Ayeka seemed just slightly annoyed, far from the dedication seen in the first OVAs. Then there is Tenchi's handling of all the new things going on. Tenchi accepts everything 5 seconds after they were revealed, and everything went as normal. Then he actually did collapse from stress, but that just made it seem weirder considering he never acted stressed out. And speaking of all the new happenings, those all seemed rushed as well. The new characters were introduced without much of a story... they appear, and nothing seems to come of it. There just seems to be no feeling in the 3rd OVA over anything.<br><br>Heh, sorry for throwing out a rant on my return, but I was wondering if any of you felt the same. I loved the originals, and this 3rd OVA seems to be lacking almost everything that made the originals classics. Your thoughts? <p></p><i></i> |

Its not as good as the originals.....for a start I dont like the new computer animation....(And the state of the breats o.O)<br><br>The next episode (assuming you've seen the preview) looks...errr...interesting....<br><br>ALthiugh this series seems a little more like GXP, and very much putting in everything at once....<br><br>Lets say the originals were moe spaced out...there's been a ridiculous amount of new characters thrown into the mix, and even more are said to be showing up. Oh goody.<br><br>Plus-I don't like Noike :P She's something else badly developed and quickly thrown in without reason....<br><br>In all I agree with you, its not quite the same standard as the originals, but its still very good ^^ (Not Tokyo, ne? I think i would have to say universe is better. Universe sags behind the original OVAs i think because of cornier acting (err... would you call a cartoon acting?) and a much duller storyline... but it was still much more organized than OVA 3. The new OVA honestly just seems kind of a mess to me at the moment, I really don't even know exactly what is going on in it.<br><br>Yeah, plus the old animation was better... <p></p><i></i> |

Heh, good point, Kiyone was a pretty cool character.<br><br>Noike so far seems really weird.. although I think that is because of the writers instead of what the character was supposed to be. (Errr... I think I worded that correctly <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :b --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif ALT=":b"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> ) ALL of the characters in OVA3 seem bland, expecially when compared to the originals.<br><br>I am re-watching the old OVAs now, I need good quality stuff to counter OVA3. <p></p><i></i> |

I have not read the manga's so I have to ask, does the first 2 OVA's follow the manga?<br><br>If not then oh well, but if so, the does the 3rd OVA do the same, or does it stray?<br><br>If it does follow the manga then is it rushing trough?<br><br>If it doesn't, then who allowed a kookoo to wright the story? <p></p><i></i> |

*smiles*<br><br>The first ova's start everything...<br><br>If you mean The True Tenchi Novels then THATS the prequel...<br><br>However in theory the manga follows on from the 1st OVA...<br><br><br>And the 3rd OVA follwos the 2nd...hehe <p></p><i></i> |
