I deny... *thinks* anything after the first OVA. It was truly the best inside official canon. If I had my way, Universe would be canon. Despite Washu's mad scientest ways, and Mihoshi's incompetence, it truly was the best; plus, it had Kiyone. |

I also wish universe was the offical canon. it was my favorite out of all the series. OVA 3 and GXP were just.......plain bad. |

Tenchi doesn't have backbone in the OVAs either, Rolf. Aeka became a bit bitchier, yes; but it turned out for some good comedy. And the Mihoshi Special was too short in its Kiyone goodness |

lol Tenchi's never had a back bone when comes to the girls. Ayeka is a bit of a nutball in this, but it works really well because Ryoko is such a start up in it hahaha. the introduction of Kiyone was a really good move. because an Idiot on their own isnt really funny, you need a polar opposite of the idiot to make it a well rounded comedy duo. Sasami and Mihoshi got sorta sideswiped as tenchis cheerleaders lol. Ryoko, as always, was superb. but she is extra hilarious in this series for sure. the introduction of Yugi was one of the best things about the series another good move. TenUni was basicly what the cannon should have been. i think if you added the whole back story and the more detailed elements of the OVA (minus Jarai family politics) to the structure and flow of UNis plot you couldnt go wrong. |

Tenchi has a backbone in GXP though, as seen when he sent a teasing Ryoko back to her side of the floating onsen. |

He had backbone in TiT as well. And lets not for get him destroying several lockers with Amagasaki's body in the OAV!! (loved that scene) I think folks are thinking "Indecisive = No Backbone" Think too about when he faced the Soja. He left Ryo-Ohki to board Ryo-oh in attempt to counter Kagato's attacks. |

I think most people when arguing his loss of backbone forget that in every series hes indecisive with the women, and that every chance to jump in an be the "hero" he does it, those are the main arguments, with little differentiating pieces based on which continuity your talking about. So it really comes down to which series you prefer, "well he has less/more backbone" that arguement imo becomes irrelevant as he exhibits them all in every series. and yes YorokobiAssaiki, TiT, wasnt bad at all, it wasnt AMAZING, but it had some real cool moments and some real tender, story driven moments that would stand up to any OVA episode, its kinda like TU, its not a huge story driven show, but when the story comes into play, it hits a homer every time as far as the whole "harem" ending, i've come to terms with it, and if you think about it, *holds tongue* Kajishima-Sensei was right, now just because i said that doesnt mean i'm still not a little disappointed, i'm a huge Ryoko/Tenchi fan, but i'd rather he get her with all the girls, then risk him picking one i didnt like (...noike) and completely ruining the OVA for me |
