Because OAV3 bombed terribly. You have to remember, GXP was made before OAV3, but the sales of OAV3 look horrendous as Six reviews at 2.5 stars average. Pathetic.

Even taking into account the longer time OAV1/2 has been out, most sales of media should occur near their release date!

Thanks to OAV3, you can kiss the chance of OAV4 goodbye. What makes me even madder is that instead of taking what could have been the final OAV to begin with, ignoring sales, and making a decent Tenchi story out of it which means focusing on the core family. Even the later non-canon stories had the common sense to do that.

But instead, it was frivously squandered on someone's dull background story and presented in such a way that no one could possibly understand - even with all the material in the world, shoving all the previous cast to the side for new people. You know, newer is more exciting.

As if in years of waiting, someone said: "You know, the fans already saw Tenchi, Aeka, and the rest over and over again. What they really want is newer and better character!" And off they went.

OAV3 - a failure and a waste. And it's even worse because it also flushed all hopes of OAV4 down the drain. You can thank OAV3 for ruining the Tenchi franchise for the forseeable future.

Hey, at least it shined more light on Tokimi and her intentions. And .... ah, we got to see Sasami in action.

I'm starting to think the creator intentionally made it like this so he can make his doujins the center driving force. Or something.

i agree ultimately with 'OAV 3 never happened'
i feel the same about GXP.

they dont deserve to be associated with TM at all.
both EPIC FAILS in my eyes.
because of this i really cannot see an OAV 4 being released
ever. id like to beileve that theres hope and that the original
writers and voice actors would come back to fix what was ruined
but that would just be too good to be true.

its sad but i guess all the great original releases will only
stay alive through the mangas, Fanfics and Forums like ours.
