Tell you the truth, Petra was the best voice actor. Then they replaced her with the chick who used to be a voice actor on Digimon... ? WTF?! I can understand that Petra turn down the role due to the suckiness of OVA 3 (I liked it, but not the best), but if they said "Screw her, other American betta!" Than God help us all...

I thought Americans were bad of keeping up with the latest fads! Japanese are worse with their anime! "Let's use an excesive use of 3D graphics and use voice actos that sound like they are speaking through an helium tank!"

I just watched Hellsing OVA 5 last night. It was awesome. They used 3D graphics sure, but not like the other anime ya' see. Ya' see, this part of the series was when the Germans were (I ain't goin' over the entire plot so go on Wiki) invading Britian. The warfare through those scens... all hand drawn! It looked way better than boring 3D graphics! The flames, the blood, the corpses all drawn! They used 3D graphics only in necessary situations. Like when Integra and Walter were fleeing from the Nazis they used graphics for the car chase, which looked really cool. Has a better affect, but it wouldn't look so cool if the background was 3D and the characters 2D... did they do that in OVA 3? Have 3D backgrounds? I don't remember, but ya' see my point! If the staff for tenchi muyo OVA 3 had more patience and took their time... it would have been better. Like with Hellisng... TV series suck, OVA... ROCKS

It seemed odd to me that they would have assembled all of the original English voice cast except Petrea Burchard for Ryoko. If you go look her up on imdb, Petrea has been doing a lot of network TV shows in recent years, so there may have been contractual issues with her working on OAV3. *shrugs* Anyway, I liked the sub they got for Ryoko although she played the role a bit awkwardly at first.

I can tell you for a fact that FUNimation tried to get Petrea back. The only thing I can't discover (and legally, they couldn't tell me anyway) is why Petrea couldn't come back.

I've said this on other boards, but OAV 3 could have been epic and great. The problem with OAV 3 wasn't it's story (that was pretty good), but rather the pacing. OAV 3 is way too big of a story to tell in such a short time. Had it been 12 episodes long it may not have failed so badly. What they did was the equivalent of trying to tell the story of OAV 1 and 2 in a five episode timeframe. It just doesn't work that way.

They tried to cram way too many characters and way too much story into a few episodes and confused everyone who attempted to watch it. Not only did we have characters we'd never previously met popping up at seemingly random points for plot devices, but we also had our favorite characters kind of sidelined in order to advance the plot at a quick enough pace to finish out the timeline.

I mean, Washu wasn't even supposed to show up until OAV 2, as there were supposedly too many characters by the end of the first OAV. In OAV 3 we had new faces in practically every episode! And none of them were interesting enough to follow closely.

So, I guess I don't mind that OAV 3 happened, but were it up to me, I would have divided the story between OAV 3 and a potential OAV 4. On that note, I have high hopes for a fourth OAV, and I hope that Kajishima-san has learned his lesson from OAV 3. Great story, horrible pacing.
