I would say keep it clean, but is Tenchi all that clean to begin with?

kiyone was always my 2nd choice after Ryoko.

the thing about Kiyone is, she sorta at the other extreme.
shes far too focused on her career and social status. shes, in that respect,
a bit of a megalomaniac.

That's more a Tenchi in Tokyo thing... she cared about her career in Universe, but only because Mihoshi constantly ruined it.

Well she cared about her career in TiT but unlike in Universe, she actually turned around for more then just 2 episodes, (not to put down Universe at all) but it actually showed she could be like "f**k work Tenchi and the gang is way more important, hell just getting Ryoko to like Tenchi again is more important"

Never truly cared for Tenchi in Tokyo, but the one thing I loved was when Ryoko ran off with Hotsuma. It showed weakness in her character, which - to be honest - every other series seems to lack. When I spoke with Petrea Burchard, that was actually her favorite part - which is what got me to thinking about why it works: Ryoko never gives up on him for an extended period until then. There's that part in Universe at the end, but ... does that really count? I mean, she comes back in one or two episodes.

Seriously, another side of Ryoko that is otherwise missing. Maybe STM didn't mess up everything...

Wow, I thought that part was the suckage extradorinaire:/ The OAV gave the feeling of Ryoko being the most committed... Tenchi was bad enough in that show, but that part killed that part of the character and the classic Tenchi feeling. I thought the only one who lived up to the show was Aeka there, pulling the family together.

But then that's why I'm an OAV gal.

Well yeh, those were (for me) the only saving grace of the series.
It was great to see Ryoko, portrayed in a more realistic way, broken hearted and fed up.
Im sure we've all thought at one time or another: "Jeez, Just forget about him, theres nothing on earth for u"
And TiT fulfilled this.

Also the fact that that happened didn't really show she wasn't committed at all, because the whole time
she was still constantly thinking about him, and the look of pain on her face when Kiyone brings him up...
Ryoko hasnt given up on him yet, no way. I mean his lifetime only makes up a small part of hers anyway.

Plus TiT takes place 2 years after they met, after the whole date thing, where he actually took interest, and then you see him kissing another girl, i'd be pretty broken too. For awhile she gave up being with him, but she never truely stopped loving him. I hated the part mainly for Hotsuma, but I gotta agree with Jibril up there, Aeka was tasked with getting a broken family together, and never gives up the idea once, that takes some real character, i was proud of that

and bkev i think she was just jealous in TU that he didnt stop going after Aeka to be with her, it wasnt such a low blow as in TiT,
