I've been looking at ways that the existing Tenchi website can get a new look.

I'm at the earliest possible stage right now, but I'm trying to get a feel for things people liked, or didn't like etc about the exiting site.

Please let me know what you like, don't like, any suggestions you may have, stuff you'd like to see, etc.

I'm not much of a graphic artist, so I'll problaby use the headers again. My graphic arts skills are pathetic really. I know how to use the software but dont' have that artist's eye. I do really like the headers a lot though so I'll probably use them again. And I really like the colors of the green and black. So the colors will probably be the same.

Anyway I'm interested in hearing what people think so post your thoughts.

Well, the visual look is good for now. But content-wise, I'll just compile a list off the top of my head:

LAYOUT:
-The multiverses could be distinguished better on the character pages
-Episode Guides need to be easier to find. Much easier, I think you said you can't even find em yourself.
-An index page with updates, maybe a sidebar like on the forum.

CONTENT:
-Tenchi in Tokyo needs some love...
-GXP too!
-OVA 3 is a must at this point
-Perhaps a regularly updated section on the new series currently airing? Heck, offer to host some fansubs?
-We have an mp3 section, but it needs an overhaul.

THINGS NOT TO DO:
-Episodes. As much traffic as that might bring in, Tenchi's not too hard to find.

The different multiverses has always been difficult for me. For example Sasami is 8 on the normal series but 10 in Pretty Sammy. Then you've got new animation studios doing different voice actors etc. So the fact that there are multiple studios doing Tenchi now as well as several voice actors is has been a pain.

As for newer content. Like GXP, OAV3, and even Tenchi in Tokyo. Tenchi in Tokyo was so bad it was literally the first anime I started but didn't finish. And it was Tenchi related which hurt even more. That and it was the last few videocasettes I purchased before buying only DVD.

I agree about not posting the actual videos of the different episodes. Although it would be a nice thing to have them all in once place, the amound of webspace and bandwidth they'd eat up would be painful. That and there are so many places you can find the episodes. Maybe I can list other people's torrents or something like that. Just so there'd be one place to find them but at the same time not take on the responsiblities of storing them and/or risk from copyrights.

I say group the OVA series information in one box, the Universe in another, and then the various mini-verses into another. Kind of like separate forum posts.

I'd like to include all the Tenchi stuff I can get my hands on actually. Even stuff I wasn't particularly a fan of.

I do want to include info from each multiverse. I will need help from other people to get it all together though. Mainly because I haven't watched the newer series as much if at all. I watched the Tenchi Universe, Tenchi OAV 1 + 2, and the first 2 movies, literally 100's of times.

That's about my territory Neelick, so you can count on me for that. I dont' think age and stuff is as important so much as personality is.

I haven't read any of the Tenchi manga, but I've seen probably every episode of every Tenchi anime ever made. Of course I like some storylines better than others like everyone else so to avoid putting any slant on the write-ups I'd make a suggestion to take a wikipedia type approach. That would be just write up all the facts and factoids you can think of about all of the various Tenchi storylines. Facts like Sasami being 8 years old in one story and 10 in another is a good example. I'd suggest leaving out any opinions or ratings and let the site visitors decide for themselves.

I agree, age doesn't matter to the extent of specifics. I mean they really only mention most people at "10000 years old" and such, giving exact ages isn't entirely necessary as long as the point remains the same.

Honestly, green and black borders with white font is the easiest on the eyes, as proven statistically... The fact that there isn't anything too fancy keeps this feeling more comfortable than flashy, at least always brings me back.

I think just an info update on the Tenchi's and characters, pretty much what bkev said actually.

Neelick has announced in the "new banners" thread that he is expecting to give the site an overhaul soon.

I've been working on new profiles, fixing errors and such.

im studying graphic design/web design ect in university atm (in my 3rd year) so if u need an advice or help

Offering multiple skins on the main site could be cool... just like we offer multiple songs.

I like the new banners.

If you're going to do a new color scheme, avoid grays. I hate gray! So many websites use it as a background, ugh. >< No light blues either, that just looks generic. Maybe try something with red? Multiple skins would be the best way to go, probably.
