Since Dagon was talking Blurays, I thought people would like some comparison shots I made between the two. On a TV, you won't see Bluray quality unless you have an HD screen (not just a standard one) and between a small 640x480 DVD picture and a 1920x1080 HD picture, you just won't see the difference. So, for an apples-to-apples comparison, all I did was scale the DVD size up to 1920 wide (1080p aka High-Def), now you see the difference in quality as if you were playing a DVD in an "upscaling" DVD player vs a Bluray movie.

Here are some comparison screenshots:
http://www.2shared.com/file/7119760/366 ... S_DVD.html

Let me know if the link works. I have to say, there is a nice quality difference and the colors are better in Bluray. I don't really know, though, if the movie is much better experience once it's in motion. (shrugs)

The Jibri goes "ra-ta-ta-ta!"

The Blu-Ray disc version produce better color, framerate and focus of objects, i could see it right away as i have both an HD LCD TV and an old 40 Inch JVC Tube television, you cant really tell on the JVC that theres a huge difference, but when played on the LCD, it REALLY jumps out at you like it should, granted yes it looks nicer, but it doesnt change the experience for me story wise, like the quality of the DVD still looks nice and not having blu-ray doesnt change my opinion of the movie, so i will wait for awhile to get the movies (even though i really want to get them now, lol)

And yes Jibi your links work, good comparisons

I wonder how Blu-Ray compares to Laserdisc?

Laserdisc video was better then VHS, and depending on the manufacturing of the disc at hand, sometimes better then DVD, but not much, and to have that was kind of rare

Audio wise however, Laserdisc is superior to pretty much everything, as Laserdiscs run off of the master analog signal of the video being played, making it virtually perfect sound quality

But laserdiscs never picked up in the States, old Audiophiles still have them, but as they were as big as a record they didnt catch on, and they could only hold up to 120 min of video, and that was on Super-Extended play double discs (discs with video on both sides) and they were the most expensive

Thanks for those... I'd seen a few for the other movies.
Yeah, Laserdisc is known for audio. I'm familiar with them only because of Tenchi and the original versions of Star Wars (I have a few LD preservation DVDs). Never had one myself, but it's really neat to see how enthusiasts still work with it.

Aside from the hassle of getting a high-end LD player, i wouldnt mind getting the Tenchi Stuff on LD, mainly because, imagine how the first movie sounds hooked up surround sound (its awesome, thats what i'm getting at, lol) now imagine hearing EVERYTHING, in the highest caliber of audio, your basically standing right next to Tenchi on Tokyo tower as hes fighting Kain, wow

I'm an audiophile to a certain extent. I hate compressed music, but can tolerate CDs. I like records because my dad already had a massive collection and we enjoy the same music. I don't know if I'd notice the difference for Tenchi LD, but boy would they be cool to own!

Records always sound the best, so when the same concept is added to a video, the video may not be the best but the audio is going to be amazing, i have a ton of records myself, but i guess i cant really call myself an audiophile because i'm not as picky or anal when it comes to quality, but owning them would be pretty sweet, they make rounds on ebay alot too, lol
