People (and by people i refer to the Kaji-Elitist) have said that AIC/Pioneer did bad jobs on translations for subs, i dont know what they were talking about, the translations were very, very good and genuine to the content, i agree with you Takeda I really miss Ellen Gerstell too, With Rebecca Forstadt they looked for an actor who was more of the "way-over-the-top, ditzi version of Mihoshi like that found in Universe, Not to put her down though her performance in TinT, was much more like Ellens, then the latter OVA3, at least it could be said she was a decent replacement for that series I still am completely baffled at how they put Mona Marshall in a recording booth and said "This is our Ryoko", they remarked at how they put Mona's voice to an Intern who was supposidly a huge Ryoko fan and they said they "couldnt tell the difference", the irony there is they are paying the interns salary, lol but seriously from a non-biased perspective, Mona Marshall sounded like Petrea maybe 5 times, her only real problem was her voice was too high and whiny, and she has a terrible accent that gives her away every freaking time, which is what she is notorius for Oh and Sorry for not doing this earlier WELCOME TO THE BOARD! |

Not here too! Let's keep the Mona-bashing to the Mona-bashing threads. XD As for Mrs. Forstadt, I blame voice direction. What the dubbing company wants, the dubbing company gets. Or maybe she forgot the voice (however this is very unlikely) |

Aka, Dagon, thank you for your welcomes. I'd feel sorry for Mona Marshall, but at the end of the day -- regardless of what anyone of us thinks, the woman is most likely skipping all the way to the bank. She's hit it big in a very tough industry but she's got *solid* gigs and the woman's been doing this job before the majority of us (I'm totally guessing here) were born. I think she's talented, I'd err on the side of caution and assume as a given that she's a wonderful skilled professional whom if I was doing a radio play or a voice actor spot - I'd be blessed to have her working with me. But she's not Ryoko. Petrea is. However all those who mourn the loss of Petrea's voice can take some comfort that there is the fallback of Ai Orikasa who (along with the Japanese cast doing their various parts) remains a constant as the Japanese Ryoko. Mona did a gig, and she did it the best she could. Do I think she was miscast? Yes, I do. Do I think that simple opinion means much? No I do not. Why? Because Ryoko (along with the original female Scooby gang) was neglected in OAV3 like a redheaded stepchild. I also agree that everyone sounded a bit rusty except Sherry Lynn...the woman's just got a Sasami voice that simply won't quit. And while I'm about it, I don't understand why they felt the need to bring in the Great (No sarcasm intended) Wendee Lee when they already had their original Kiyone Makibi doing Sasami. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but then again, neither does a lot of the minutiae within the handling of Tenchi Muyo after the OAV's. |

Yeah... why Wendee Lee? Granted, she didn't do horrible, but she's a three-trick pony: very little kid, teenage-ish voice, and sexy adult voice (read: FAYE VALENTINE). I mean, you can recognize her in anything she's ever done ever. |

@ Takeda And thats partially why i abhore FUNi in there english voice dubbing department, i dont know this for sure, but i'll bet every dollar to my name, that Mona Marshall is a FUNi "House" Actor, FUNi will go to there house actors for every reversion they get, that is unless it was already in production with another company and or the main dub cast (IE Tenchi Muyo) is so known they'd be stupid to do there own, but the minute they get an opening, they, regardless of the voice involved they will fill it with one of there own, Case and Point, One Piece, if they absolutely cant get that they will go looking for another. They were able to get every returning Tenchi Cast member, except Petrea Burchard, so why go through the trouble of finding a replacement who sounds good when they can get someone from there own actors who had the job before, and that person was Mona Marshall. I never understood why they changed Kiyone's voice from Sherry Lynn to Wendee Lee, she didnt do bad i just didnt get it |

It makes no sense. Anyway, Mona Marshall is NOT a house actor. She's freelance. She's worked for Saban (I believe they used to record at BangZoom) and many other companies. |

Its a theory, yes, but it makes sense, and even if she is freelance, its still shows lack of attention on FUNi's part, but i'll stop ranting...for now that is, lol |

well maybe next time read before u post Jibril. this isnt meant to be a critique of the film or the characters, its just a disscussion on the saddness that film may invoke in you. (and a promotion of the AMV) x) if it does not, or you cant relate, then dont post. |
