aww, seto-fan beat me to the punch ... Anyways, I basically agree with what Seto-Fan said. Indeed, Ryoko gets beat up a lot...But generally, if it's not in a fight, she usually gets beat up because she said/did something to warrant it. Cause/effect scenarios. Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Episode 4: Ayeka slaps her. That's the effect. What's the cause? Insulting Ayeka's bust size. Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Episode 10: Effect: Washu drops a statue on Ryoko's head. Cause: Ryoko was disrupting "class". Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, Episode 13: Effect: Misaki starts tugging and squeezing Ryoko's face in a painful fashion. Cause: Ryoko insulted Ayeka in front of Misaki after she had just been warned not to. ... Basically, it's not so much that Ryoko is unjustly mistreated in those scenarios - It's just that she's not a good judge on when is and isn't the right time to make a comment. However, on the matter of Kagato...I don't have much to contribute, but here's my thoughts. Ryoko's situation was like a little kid who's given a B.B. Gun. They don't have a full grasp of the value of life - Where Kagato simply disregarded the value of life, I think it mostly had to do that Ryoko had no reason to value life. Kagato just uses her as a weapon - She didn't have real friends or family. And we sure know Kagato wasn't a father figure or big brother figure. Really, if you think about it, until she encountered Tenchi, Ryoko had no one to care about. So, she probably did derive pleasure from all that killing and destruction. And Kagato probably would have preferred she didn't cause so much destruction. But the key here is that Kagato didn't stop her - In the end, Kagato didn't care how many people were killed or what was destroyed as long as he got what he wanted. Thus, if Ryoko has that kind of power to kill, doesn't know the concept of caring for someone like a friend or loving someone, is basically cut off from genuine social interaction, and is encouraged to kill and destroy as long as she gets the prize... ...Really, I don't think Ryoko should be considered "evil". More on the side of naieve. Just my opinion, though. |

I kinda agree, I mean she gets tossed around in that episode with the masu and not only that but by the next episode she gets cloned and kidnapped!! C'mon. OVAs really like messing with Ryoko. >.> This is why I prefer Tenchi Universe. |

We already know she enjoys destroying things. It was one of the few things that gave her an emotional response when she was still developing. |

My sole favorite scene from OVA 3 is when Ryoko is afraid to answer the door for fear that Misaki is on the other side. At any rate, she didn't "kill" Sasami and she didn't do it intentionally in Sasami's case. |

If you're refering to that flashback, that was Ryo-Ohki who crashed into the building. Ryoko wasn't onboard at the time. |
