It is widely regarded by Tenchi fans that OVA 3 and GXP certainly did not meet the expectations that the fans had for them. In fact, they are probably considered the most disappointing of the Tenchi installments for a plethora of reasons. This thread has been created for polite discussion and bashing of OVA 3 and GXP. I think my biggest frustration with the third OVA, among many mind you, was when they had Mona Marshall redub the original high school fight scene from OVA 1. Her voice kills that scene, it just dispels any possible greatness from the scene, that is until you see the original again. Now, what did everyone here dislike, like, or expect from GXP and OVA3?

That's a good point, they also really cluttered up the story with everything but Tenchi and the gang I felt. The whole first episode was essentially a recap montage with redubbed scenes. I thought that the addition of Z's backstory was pointless because he made maybe two appearances before the sixth fifth or sixth episode so I almost had forgotten about him by the time he actually chose to show himself. I don't understand why he waited so long either, especially if he had the power to blow up a frickin planet in the span of a second. My last argument is purely whine but Noike was annoying, with her wierd haircut she looked manly, I'd much rather have had no new girls then Noike, she was fragment of the awesomeness of Kiyone and Mihoshi's character interaction. I'm still surprised that they would keep a successful character out of that story line, especially when Noike was teh suck

Noike was a hideous dog of a woman. And everyone acted like she was so beautiful, but seriously, she was just butt ugly. There was just something wrong about her face. She hurts my eyes. Really, I couldn't even look at her after a while and had to fast forward through her scenes. (Well, also because she was annoying.) Her hair cut just added to her severe, uncurable hideousness, but even when it was long and up it just looked strange. I feel sorry for Tenchi, he has to look at that every day. ><

Yeah that was ridiculous, I just kept thinking "wtf were they on when they made this plot?", so many of the pieces don't fit, I suppose a plus side would be updated animation. Although, I like the animation from the old Tenchi stuff a lot, 2D Ryo-Ohki is cooler then 3D for me

2 Characters who got majorly shafted, Naja gets put down as a girl version of Kagato with Clays seal, and God what did they do to the beautiful Misaki?? why

Oh that's right, they made Misaki evil. I couldn't believe how random the reference was when they did that, not to mention, they never even seemed to hint at such a thing before. She just suddenly appears and starts to try and kill everything. So wierd

I didn't even know it was Misaki until I read up on it, I don't understand why he changed her so much

Me neither, she went from being a comical side character to an evil powerful enough to fight the three goddesses? On a side note, the dialogue of the subbed version is way funnier, here's an example and Ryoko calls him an SOB a couple more times. Interesting sub translation =P is that fansubbed? I hadn't watched it subbed before, much more adult dialogue, giggity. Washu is a pretty goddess ^_^... I want an abridged version of OVA3, you could totally make that hilarious with a bunch of wth jokes.

You know why Misaki started attacking the goddesses? Because she hated OVA3 so much. The goddesses created a universe in which someone like Noike can exist and to add insult to injury, two of the goddesses (Tsunami and Washu) just let her waltz in and take over their household! That means that they let Noike take screen time away from her precious daughters! No wonder Misaki is so angry. You remember what she did to Ryoko over lightly mocking Ayeka? Well, this is just the same thing except on a larger, more enraged scale.

No need. We can just leave her alone in a room with Ryo-ohki for a while and let nature take it's course.
