I thought Seto was one of the best introduced.

I hope it's okay to bump this.. I forced myself to finish OVA3 last night, while I'm in super Tenchi-mode. Just to get it over with and say I saw it. xP Basically, my thoughts on it are similar to everyone else's.. They've been said to death, so there's no use in me saying them again. But, I do have one unique thing to say! Am I the only one who noticed that Washu's voice was kind of off in the dub? Like, I know it was the same VA. But is it just me, or did she sound somewhat lackluster? Like she totally wasn't into the lines.. I know Washu wasn't as chipper/crazy in these episodes, but still! Maybe she was just rusty, but it bothered me! So I was wondering what everyone else's opinions were~ |

Kate T. Vogt has varied in nasal inflection from series to series. As it went on, it became more nasaly and of lower pitch. The current style she uses is probably closest to the one she did in Tenchi in Tokyo. |

I don't hate OVA3 but I can't say that I'm a big fan of it. One of the problems that I have with OVA3 is that nothing really happens in it till the last two episodes. Episode 14 is pretty much a flashback episode, the only thing it has going for it are the scenes with Ryoko and Ryo-oh-ki, which are hard to find cute with Mona voicing Ryoko. Episodes 17 and 18 are about Mihoshi's brother Misao who might just be the worst Tenchi character ever created. Episode 18:Operation Lovey-Dovey is in my opinion the worst episode of any Tenchi series. This episode could have been used to actually move the story forward. Episode 19:Z is in my opinion the only OVA3 episode worth watching. Episode 20 is terrible, we learn that Tenchi's Mom died of old age. Witch makes no sense since her parents are still alive. And the way that they make her death into a joke just feels like a kick in the gut to every Tenchi fan. Now it's time to talk about the voice acting. When Tenchi first came out, I felt that the Tenchi dub was(and still is)one of the best dubs of all time. In OVA3 the voice acting was pretty bad. But I really don't blame the voice acters, it seemed pretty clear to me that they were out of practice, and in some cases some of the voice acters voices have aged so that it was inpossible for some to sound like they did back in the early(OVA1-2, Tenchi Universe, Tokyo)days, and I'm not ever going to bother talking about Mona voiceing Ryoko. And don't get me started on Noike. |
