An epiphany...born out of a discussion at work about our regret over the ending of the space shuttle missions. (no more fun TDY's to the 'space coast' of florida for rescue alert duty - beach combing, clubbing, sufing, etc.) i mentioned i never knew that cocoa beach was even a real place when i watched 'i dream of jeannie' as a kid. this devolved into a rather vulgar discussion about barbara eden's charater amongst the guys. I threw out that, if i were jeannie, i'd ditch that two-timing arogant SOB major nelson for the much more interesting and appreciative major healy. ah! sounds a bit familiar, powerful woman, man who is indiffernt towards her.... yet she endures his insults, whims, women, etc, when reason dictates she should drop him like 3rd period french in favor of a man who appriciates what she has to offer. she does have a few blow-ups, but always comes back to him. because he is the MAN and she LOVES him, for whatever reason. hmmmmm...... ann any thoughts??? nanny and the professor and bewitched had similar themes, but jeannie was the rebel. (for those of you old enough to remember) |

That's an interesting interview, I'd never seen that before. I didn't know they liked "I Dream of Jeannie", or that they loosely based any Tenchi off of it. Nice find there Jibril ^_^ |

Aw, that interview was great. I love I Dream of Jeanie (it's tied with Gilligan as my favorite of the older sitcom) and I love Ryoko. Coincidence? I think not. :O |

[quotH: No. Kajishima and I both like a classic America soap opera called "I dream of Jeannie"(1965-1970, copyrights Screen Gems, Inc.) We like Jeannie a lot and wanted to use her in our works back then. (I still like Jeannie now, sort to speak.) She is the original "Ryoko". e][/quote] i KNEW IT! haha! too bad ryoko doesn't 'punish' tenchi for his indiscretions as often as jeannie put the screws to old major nelson. still, he went on to do 'dallas,' and what a great show that was. God, i miss Texas. ann |
