Eh, I guess in those scenes maybe I could see it. But if she is tsundere, she's a very mild one. I've watched many series with tsundere characters, and I really don't think Ryoko acts like a typical tsundere. When I think of tsundere characters, I think of people like Kyou from Fruits Basket or England from Hetalia, or even Akane from Ranma. To me Ryoko doesn't fit. But that's just my opinion. |

I'll admit, Ryoko very well could be considered a Tsundere. But I'd have to say that Aeka is a Yandere in that case. She must take after Misaki more than we thought! I almost wonder if this was done intentionally by the creators of Tenchi? Straight from Wikipedia: Yandere (ヤンデレ?) is a Japanese term for a person who is initially very loving and gentle, then at one point becomes deranged or psychotic, often brutally so. Yandere is a combination of the two words yanderu (病んでる?), meaning to be sick, and deredere (デレデレ?), which is defined as exhausted or lovestruck. |

Where OAV evidence for this about Aeka? |

I believe Oyasumi try to erect no true Scotsman fallacy. I believe Ryokos advances as part of violent tsundere nature as way to suppress Tenchi because she know his reaction ahead of time. In this way, she can keep inner shyness of emotional intimacy as she know her efforts repel him. |

Could be, but that would still make her an atypical tsundere at best. Tsunderes just don't act that way. I don't think I'm erecting any Scotsmen, I'm basing my argument off of most tsunderes. You can only stretch an anime trope so far until it turns into something completely different. I do concede that she has a few vague tsundere tendencies, but not enough to be classified as a tsundere because the rest of her personality clashes with that. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. |
