Why the Aeka/Washu pairing? Here's why: they're both alike.

Here are the Aeka/Washu paralells:

1. The both know the pain of feeling for someone that doesn't feel it back. Neither have recieved true love. Washu's crappy first husband callously dumped her over being royalty and married another woman within 6 months. Although not as extensive, Aeka gave her heart to Yosho and he walked all over it to be with Airi. Tenchi will be Washu's second chance at first love and Aeka's first true love.

2. Right before meeting Tenchi, both were in stasis. Aeka was in stasis for 700 years. Washu for 5,000 years.

3. Both share a sister in Tsunami/Sasami.

4. Washu is a mother and is taking care of a physically mature but emotionally immature child in Ryoko. Aeka is a second mother (apparent in ep9 flashback and their current situation) to the physically immature but emotionally mature Sasami.

5. Both put up barriers around themselves. They both can seem like cold, distant people. Washu used her scientific work and the body of a twelve year old girl to push people away. Aeka uses a haughty royal demeanor and her position likewise.

6. Both have shed these barriers for Tenchi as they yearn for his love. Aeka apologized, dropped the formal princess act, and opened her heart to him in episode 3. Washu dropped her cold scientific manner, showed her mothering side, and revealed her adult body in episode 8. This timing for both is roughly 2 full episodes from their introduction.

7. When teaching in episode 10 about Masu, the most apt pupil who gave the best answer and was even praised by Washu was Aeka. This suggest that either Aeka is on the same wavelength as Washu and/or also mentally acute like her professor.

8. Headstrong. Washu doesn't take crap from anybody. As it is, neither does Aeka. Aeka kicked Tenchi out of her bed in episode 2, and when Washu was playing games with her in episode 7, Aeka broke a flower pot over Washu's head. Washu of course is thrilled with Aeka's "spirit" because it's a kindred one.

The only spiky haired person Aeka will be kissing is Washu!

Although I wouldn't likely have thought of this pairing, it's an interesting idea Jibril. Bonus points for creativity ^_^.

I'm not a huge fan of this pairing... '._. I Don't think they're that similar...

Washu's husband Didn't have a choice, he had to leave her, and i'm assuming the next marriage was arranged, as in The Novel for Washu at the start, The little gir from the new wife is to be married to Her brother-Washu's son- is fully aware that she will be marrying him etc. I haven't really tried to think alot into the 'politics of the Tenchiverse' because it's an anime and I just didn't want to trouble my self, but This arrangement is similar to Jurai's is it not? And Jurai have arranged marriages, like Tenchi/Noike, Aeka/Pink Haired guy(I think that was an arranged marriage anyway) so it wasn't as if her Husband just stopped loving her, upped and left then found a new life. I think. Jib I Expect you probably know more about this than me, I read a pretty rough translation of that novel on the net about a year ago now, so it's from memory about the Kuramitsu children. So the whole Yosho/Mikumo(Was that his name?) Thing I don't agree with much.

And as far as the same level of intelligence, I Don't think Aeka's is even in Washu's league. Now this thing i'm about to say is again from memory about things I read about a year ago, I might need some help explaining. But anyways, somewhere I read that Mihoshi is the only one that might match Washu's intellengence levels, it's what Washu considers. Now I know what you're all thinking, and I Admit I thought it was utter bull at first too, but think about it: Mihoshi was a highly intelligent and able girl before that incident. The side effects of her family reviving her are the cause of how she is now. She displays some sort of energy when in the Soja, the energy coming from her hands or something, and she is able to get past Washu's lab security without much effort at all...

I'm going to look and try and find this source because I bet you all think i'm spouting a load of rubbish, and heck, maybe it was something sarcastic, but what I read made sense and...

Maybe I should stop now xD

wut. how is this pairing even viable.....they're both girls and i have never seen any evidence of lesbianism on the show ever or in ether character.
im sure the entire harem love each other on some level, but not sexually. The points you raise are mostly correct Jib, but none of them actually
EVEN IMPLY anything "going on" between the two.

also Ayeka has actually already kissed Ryoko at the end of time space adventures, as we all know.

I really don't care what the crap books say in their narrative Sparkley, actions speak louder than words! In the anime Washu tells Tenchi in the baby Taro episode that her husband left because his noble family didn't like that he married a commoner. Mikamo was so weak that he bent to the will of his family and stole Washu's baby from her. Further more, in the books, Mikamo remarried WITHIN 6 MONTHS of leaving Washu.

The man is a weak pathetic excuse for a human being that never really loved Washu and left her heartbroken for 20k years. Her little kami brother Tenchi will fix it though:D

Mikamo and Yosho are cut from the same cloth and so should be paired together by Seto, and then consumate their love by being bound together by rope and thrown in a lake >:0
