By the time ayeka found her for her own revenge ryoko was paroled or whatever. Ayeka did that warning shot, captured her, then tortured her, poor ryoko was just trying to live her new free life with her new boyfriend. Then ayeka came and ruined everything all for the sake of revenge and some journey of incest. Yosho didn't even want her. No surprise there.

I was joking, but for one. Ryoko could have killed him at any moment. She was joking with him. I meant she was a brainwashed slave before she came to earth. While she attacked Gerai. Not while Ayeka came after her. As for the picture, what can I say? Some times creators mess up and don't make the correct cannon information for their cartoons. Sometime I'm watching Heroes and I'm like...wait..peter didn't have the ability to fly in that episode...oh well.

edit- Just so we're clear, I really do enjoy all the characters the same. That is till we get into OVA 3, but Ryoko an Ayeka are the same to me. Ryoko just always clicked more. The show wouldn't be the same without either one of them...or any of the originals for that matter.

Pretty sure incest is an all genetics thing. I really hope no one here thinks incest is a safe practice outside of the tenchi world. But whatever, it's a cartoon and Japan loves being weird. I'm also pretty sure the creator of the show said she was kidding with him, too. She talks about it in the onsen with her best friend Ayeka. Who by the way, get drunks and insults her, like the sophisticated princess she is. (joking)

I'm not one to interpret some other persons writing or creation as something else or assume back stories if I didn't write them, so I'm not sure about all that and I don't know if they've ever met before, but if the creators of the show said they did, then my bad.

All I can say is that I guess that her back story is she was a marauding space pirate and did bad things. She had 700 years to think it over and watched Tenchi grow up, so now she isn't a bad guy now. I think it's pretty obvious by OVA 3 that Ayeka doesn't see Ryoko as the person she did when she faced her in earlier episodes. Let's all be friends.

Ryoko was a kid, she had no other roll model in her life aside from kagato who also used ACTUAL mind control on her.
u can see it in the ep 'kagato attacks". she cant be morally responsible for her actions id she had NO MORAL CHOICE
or NO MORAL GUIDANCE. Had she been raised by Washu, she would never have become a space pirate or beaten the crap
out of the universe in general. And what about ryo-ohki? she was the battleship which did the destroying, yet i see no
questioning of her integrity?

Maybe I'm crazy, but would having Washu as her role model growing up be much better?

Instead of living under Kagato's mind control, we get a crazy genius scientist for a mom, who has invented tons of devices capable of destroying the universe. Surely Ryoko as a young and reckless child (not that she's changed much ), with her kind of powers could get a hold of one of those inventions somehow (accident or not) and end up causing damage anyway.

On the other hand, OVA ep 8 definitely showed Washu's ability to be a mother. But that was because she was thinking of her REAL child she had with her husband. Ryoko, when it comes down to it, is still Washu's creation. Not quite the same. Would she act differently raising her creation than her real child?

After here comes jurai 2, I can say that I believe Washu to be the cruelest of them all.

And I don't think Ryoko was a child when she was doing all that attacking and plundering of jurai or kagato being a role model being a factor.

For myself, I doubt that Ryoko was 'off the hook' at the end of TU, simply because I don't know what all her charges were, or who has jurisdiction over them. The ending of TU seemed to say to me that while this particular story (the takeover of Jurai) was over, the bigger story (life) was still going on, including the consequences of past actions.

well its not what i think or believe. its what i know. we all have to identify with something in our lives and when ur a child its the authority figure in ur life. aka your father, mother, guardian.
Kagato being that only figure for ryo would definitely be her prime influence and where she would have learnt the concepts of morality and how life works in general. Being his mind controlled
battle slave, doing his 'dirty work' as it were and receiving no other support or training for anything else (like manners, responsibility blah blah ect ect) its plainly obvious that the lack of positive role model means lack of positive behavior learnt. ryo even says to washu "u didn't raise me at all" as in, shes affirmed that she ether wasn't raised at all, or was raised by someone else. the point is; she too defines it as being "raised". so yes, role models are a factor.

Now, I'm done.

Back on topic, I re-watched "Tenchi Forever" and saw a little tidbit related to this discussion. When Sasami arrives on Jurai, she arrives in Ryo-ohki. So, it would seem that, with the Juraians at least, Ryoko is off the hook.
