[quote"AstroNerdBoy"]Personally, I'd like to see the novels "Jurai," "Yosho," and "Washu" turned into animes. That would be good stuff. [/quote] That's something I've wanted to see myself. All of the rich back story would provide room for character development and could fill in the blanks for casual viewers and fans that haven't delved too far into the canon. I'm especially interested in Washu's novel, partly because she's awesome but also partly for the sake of entertainment. I always enjoyed her character and I especially cherished the moments in the OVA when, although briefly, she was given a portion of the spotlight. Certainly a great deal of interesting content is available within the novels. As for the sales numbers, I figured as much, I was interested in numbers more for the sake of my curiosity =D. OVA3 catches a great deal of flack here but it's understandable. It often feels like a slap in the face when compared to other Tenchi titles. Metaphorically speaking, it's like when a really great band informs their fans that they are going to release one final album, but, to the dismay of their fans, there's a new lead singer and they're no longer a rock band, they're a hip hop group O_o. I still don't care for GXP or OVA3 all that much but it's nice to see all three goddesses get a little more focus and I can live with a couple bad apples out of loads of good ones. Especially since Kajishima is doing such a phenomenal job on SKT, he really is pulling out all the stops to make SKT really great. |

I think that there is a chance that there will be another OVA. My guess is another spin-off, but I would like to see them return to the romantic comedy instead of being wrapped up in the dramatic romance that it is now. I want it to be more like the Muyo! series, where all of the girls liked Tenchi, instead of just Ryoko and Ayeka. I want Washu to be more involved with the storyline, because she is obviously the best one in the whole show. I also want Tenchi to show affection towards the girls, and not be scared act like he loves them. |

My idea for the next OAV would be to follow OAV1+2. Maybe replace villain of the month with some looney thing to overcome from Jurai for 2 episodes - but back to normal life episodes with romance growing deeper with Tenchi and girls. And comedic results. Jibri has 0 interest in background, background characters, or Jurai itself. GXP anime was Jurai and some background. Tenchi is about home is where the heart is, and Tenchi gather girls like Pokemon XD |

If they're gonna do another OVA… here's the thing. They're gonna have to fix up the bed that they halfway broke through OVA 3. It's already been explained several times how they generally failed with that piece of the puzzle. They turned decently powerful characters with meaning and purpose and heart and substance into irreproachable mega powers with all the ability to destroy several worlds by flicking their fingers and none of the feeling which made them special. They made the cardinal mistake of treating the expansion of the show's universe as if more important than the actual program itself, turning almost every single episode into a major league cram session and shoving the main cast and the essence, the magic, of this anme we know and love into the background because of it. They put more focus into dead women's identical daughters, bad false incarnation Kiyones with a little piece of Kagato inside their soul, and sexually uncontrollable devil princesses whose sole true purpose is to add chaos to an incestuous political harem, than into the very family we're supposed to be following. An OVA 4 has to fix this mess now. Now they have to give people a reason to actually care about Noike and Seto. They have to remind people that the Masaki clan are there for each other and are fated to marry not because the destiny of the throne of Jurai demands it to be so, but because they love each other. They have to figure out a way to use all the information from OVA 3, continue to find some way to expand on it a little further, yet at the same time control the amount of information that goes in so that folks are not left scratching their heads every ten seconds. They have to keep Tenchi, the Choushin, and whoever they face next looking godlike but at the same time severely limit, if not eliminate, the amount of casual waves of the hand culminating in a Destroy the Planet attack. Whatever storyline they come up with for a new OVA, if it's to directly involve the Tenchi Muyo title or main cast, this is what they have to do in order for it to work. I'd like to say that I have no doubts that this can be done, but the fact is the hurdle called 3 was created in the first place. Trust me, I'll be stoked if it turns out they're actually doing this. But at the same time, I'd be warily anxious to see what they do. |
