So, who is Ryo-ohki's father?

We know that Ryoko laid the egg, that much is implied from the anime, but who is the father? Ryoko herself said it wasn't Tenchi:

As Aeka described her, Ryoko is a "woman of loose morals", which implies that anyone could be the father. But when or where?

In the fandom, there are 2 competing theories:

One is that 700 years back, while Ryoko and Yosho were fighting in space here and there, that before landing on earth, she had a dalliance somewhere. After Yosho trapped her in the cave, Ryoko kept her pregnancy at a standstill, not having enough energy to pull it through nor wanting it to be born into captivity.

The other is that between episode 2 and 3, going by Sasami and Aeka's dialogue, a week had passed, Ryoko, bored, went out and had a one night stand somewhere. Perhaps in space, as it has been shown she doesn't need a spaceship.

While these theories are interesting, none of them answer the paternity question. I have lined up a list of suspects:

1. A Wau

2. Chewbacca

3. Thing

4. An Ewok

All the possibilities are rather creepy though :-(

Umm... Umm... Didn't Washu make Ryo-Ohki? And she was reborn as that form because it had something to do with the cat Tenchi rescued that Summer? Like how Ayeka's ship was reborn it took it's original form as a tree so it started as a sapling, but Ryo Ohki didn't have anything like this so it took the cats form and came out of the egg... or something...?

Since Washu created her, she might not have a father, as is the same with Ryoko. She was tank born just like Ryoko. Ryoko doesn't lay the eggs, she only collects them from the remains of the old Ryo-Oki. Ryoko couldn't lay the eggs because Washu is Ryo-Oki's mother.

Also, we know that father/creator was , and that her mother/creator was Washu (although Ryoko's DNA was used in Minagi's creation, Washu is credited with being her mother). Yakage may have had something to do with Ryo-Oki and Ryoko's creation, but there is no evidence that backs this.

I don't think that Ryoko actually laid the egg. I think she just told Sasami that. Mostly to drive Ayeka crazy.
