I do think Ayeka would be a parent much like Funaho. I could see some Misaki creeping in, but not a lot. She's spent her whole life trying to be like Funaho.

Personally I'd like to see Washu have a proper child again and this time be able to raise it. I think she could be a good mother given the chance.

I'd like to Sasami/Tsunami as a mother too. I wonder if Sasami/Tsunami would be like Misaki?

As for Mihoshi, I wonder if she and Tenchi were to have a child, the Kuramitsu family would try and take the child away. It seems to be a rich tradition for them.

I wonder what kind of child Misaki and Tenchi will have in the future? Unless that future has been totally averted. It would be interesting to say the least.

On topic, I could see Tenchi himself being a good father, although I could see his first reaction involving a freakout. He did in the OVA, and TU when the subject was brought up about him being Ryo-Ohki's father, even though he knew he wasn't. He did in the movie too when Mayuka (sp?) showed up.

But once he adjusted I'd bet he'd end up being a good parent. I'm sure being around Great Grandpa Yosho too would encourage the child to be hard working.

To be fair to Tenchi, he was just a kid, 15/16 years old at the time. By the time actual kids start showing up, he's going to be older and calmer.

Yeah, thats what I was pretty much trying to say. Over time he would adjust and mature more and his kids would be growing up as well.

One thing I find interesting that nobody in fanfiction explores is that Tenchi isn't human, and doesn't need to walk the pace of a human lifespan.

Most people have to have kids by their late-30s or so. Fanfiction usually has Tenchi get a child right off the bat in a marriage.

But they don't need to go that pace, Tenchi and his girls could wait thousands of years before their first child. And would they have one mother and many half-siblings at the same time growing up? Or will they be the only child living at home with many mothers looking after them?

It doesn't have to be a traditional set-up. I could see one girl having a child and then all the other girls pampering that child while they wait their "turn"?

I think they all would have strengths/weaknesses.

Washu would be possessive, after losing 2.

Kiyone, would she have the patience? Probably, but maybe Mihoshi put her at her wit's end!

Sasami would be good, but may have to rely on Tenchi or others for discipline.

Ayeka would be caring, but she, Ryoko, and Mihoshi would have to grow into the roles.

What type sf father would Tenchi be?

I think Tenchi would be a very caring father, quick to love and slow to hate. There's ample documentation in the series for this kind of loving patience.
