One thing that always annoyed me in the past was that the "Explain why you like Ryoko" became regarded by some as an unassailable shrine. I set up that thread to explain to me why people liked Ryoko - not as a picture wall. Now, my animated gif of an actual OAV scene was source of some controversy, I suppose but don't really know why, because if you look at page 20 of that thread, I posted another such gifs. In fact, I posted many, some more humorous than others. But all taking a pot shot at Ryoko. And if you look at pages 9, 10, 11 - it still wasn't a "shrine", as trading and posting of pics of other characters took place, including my infamous "Tsunaminator" signature, to some laughs. After page 20 is when it changed to a picture wall although I never regarded it as a "sacred" place. Now, there is obviously demand for such a "Shrine", a sanctuary to worship a person's characters. There are two obvious solutions, to make a board where the entire thing is a shrine, or to make a single thread with a special set of rules that don't apply to the rest of the board. I think the former is an extreme solution and I would never want to be part of such a board, the latter is more reasonable to me. I don't have moderator power, but I urge them to give these specific threads special consideration and will ask bkev and mjhennesy for such. Rule #1 - One and Only One Shrine Thread per character. It may only be dedicated to one character. It needs to have "Shrine" in the title. Rule #2 - No criticism or degradation of said character in the shrine. Either through words or pictures. At the same time, it's not to be used as a bash thread against other people or characters. Rule #3 - These three rules must be posted at the beginning of the thread so people know. Did you draw that yourself? That Washu pic looks like it could possibly be a trace from episode 8, where she's on the dock with Tenchi, and he runs away after she hands him her gloves. |

Found it!  It's at the end of OAV episode 12, where Ryoko was just merged with Zero. I thought that was a cute scene:D |

Hmm... Anyways, the three (yes, three) Ryo-Oki plush dolls came in today that I ordered from eBay, just in case anyone cares. Her gem even still lights up after you press her paw. I got this kind and color.

I remember there were webpages back in the day. They were all called "Shrines" there was one for every single random obscure character you could think of. What's the Ryo-Ohki do when you squeeze the paw? I have a Plusy Ryo-Ohki and ken-Ohki. But right now they're in a plastic bin in my garage. I'm such a terrible otaku. Keeping them in storage. |
