Fortunately, he makes up for it in a host of ways. |

Well, he is a Japanese teenager. Almost everyone else is physically older. |

I always like reading Tenchi/Kiyone stories the most, they tend to be a bit more varied than usual. Plus she is the character with the least background. They should rectify that. Sometimes I imagine she's a princess that was secretly put up for adoption at a young age to keep her away from evil forces. Would be an interesting premise for a TU2. |

kiyone's probably my fav in TU [although Washu still holds #1 overall spot]. It's kinda surprising how well she adapted to life on earth though |

i think it is kyone that really makes me enjoy TU more than the OVA's. years ago, when my then 4-year old son was dilligently trying to explain to me how a rabbit like creature became a spaceship, and how tenchi's family was cool with the aliens creating havoc in his house; kyone came in and was just as gob-smacked as me. she is a strong woman who isn't interested in chasing tenchi - just trying to get ahead in life. the 'normal' person we can identify with. ann |

It took me awhile to like Kiyone as a character... I guess because for a long time I was strictly a Mihoshi fan who paid more attention to the OVA. Here I am nearly ten years after first watching the series, and I really love Kiyone! As what was mentioned above... She did really make TU the brilliant series that it was. What is her relationship with Mihoshi? I've never really seen them as a romantic couple.. but really good friends, at times perhaps almost sisterly? |

That's pretty much it. The whole lovers thing is just a joke. They do care for each other as partners and as friends. I think sisters is a good way of putting it. Mihoshi might drive her crazy, and she certainly was enjoying those days of peace, but she'd never actually abandon her, or do anything to hurt her. |

In my mental OAV3 replacement fic, I made Kiyone and Mihoshi sisters (daughters of Tokimi) connected by their blue eyesXD I don't think they're lovers. Just friends. Mihoshi's temperament matches her to Ryoko, and Kiyone's matches her to Sasami's more, imo, in the long term. |
