If there was a live-action..

I know, these dreaded two words. However, recently there has been a renewed interest in Hollywood for live-action versions of the Anime series we've grown up with. I haven't bothered to see any of them... but DragonBall, Speed Racer, and Astroboy have all surfaced. Live-action versions of Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell are both rumoured to be coming in the near future.

What if Hollywood were to attempt a live-action of Tenchi Muyo? How would you react? Would you boycott the heck out of it? Which actors/actresses would you like to see play your favourite character(s)?

But Kiyone, Achika-Funaho, and then Mihoshi would be easiest to get actresses that look alike for - blue, purple, and spiky hair hard to make look realistic. Tenchi, Nobuyuki, Yosho also probably easy.

What would be cool would be a James Cameron avatar-type CGI live/anime blend

Where the characters really look like the characters and not just living human people with make-up.

I swear 90% of anime cannot be turned to a movie and that includes video games, hell even superman struggled to make a good movie franchise and only batman and ironman are the two strong sellling superher comic movies.

The problem with anime turned film is that the source material is just not strong enough to be transfered onto film. A tenchi film will be entirely written into the U.S you would have tenchi played by a bit part actor from american pie and god knows what.

it's fair to say i don't agree on the idea.

Yeesh, that's one creepy looking kid. O.o;; Except for the hair color, it doesn't look anything like Sasami at all. If that was the artist's intent, at least they should have gotten the clothes right. ^_^;; I think the idea of live action Tenchi Muyo came up in the past, sometime around when they made live action Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z. It would cost way too much money to do it right (Avatar was $200mil?) so the idea should probably stay dead.

i reckon a live action tenchi movie would b mad only the first ovas tho n it had to stay more to anime n not american style like they done to dragon ball

Cameron is probably the only person I can think of who should seriously be directing any of these. In fact, with his vision and the major-millions production tech at his disposal, I could trust him to do a crossover. Otherwise, don't even talk live action for anime (video games included) because most likely the show will be bastardized. Just look at Dragonball: Evolution.
