Anyways... IMO, there is no way a live action Tenchi Muyo movie could work. Well, okay, maybe if they try to do it like the X-Men movies, but even the X-Men movies have issue.

The main problem, ignoring the special effects needed, are the crazy hair styles and hair color. The number of characters could be problematic if they only want one or two movies. Even if they focus on a small part of the story (i.e. cut down on the background story by a lot), I can't see it being well made in a 2 hour movie. Then you have trying to incorporate the humor that is a part of the Tenchi verse into a live action setting... it'll be DB Evolution all over again.

I only use X-Men as an example only because they did attempt to at least handle the tons of character situation (by focusing on a few), and when it came to the 'wild' costumes, they changed it to basic general costumes for the ones that looked too colorful. That being said, all that made was a decent movie franchise at best. Third X-Men movie didn't help its cause any either.

Live-action mini-series is the way to go, not movies (IMO). You'd have the first mini-series based on OVA 1, then a TV movie to cover Night Before Carnival. OVA 2 would be another mini series with the "Here Comes Jurai" episode another TV movie. Then a restructured OVA 3 as the final mini-series and rounding out with the TV movie.

Using this format and the bit of extra time allotted (say each mini-series is 3 2-hour episodes), one could structure the story to accommodate many of the things that were put into doujinshi, books, interviews, "101," etc. That would allow for a better flowing and better structured overall story without the need for an info dump in the final episode, as happened with OVA 3.
