So on the other board, I've been really learning things about tenchi muyo that people truly would not know if you don't go beyond the ova's. Like Seto being a lesbian before her marriage, Seto and Azusa being in love with each other. So I wanted to make a thread where all the highly knowing Tenchi knowledge people could share some things that many people could and probably did miss in the Tenchi muyo storyline

You'd have to tell us what you've missed. Otherwise, we'd have to just type up everything. Wouldn't it just be easier to use the Tenchi Muyo F.A.Q. instead?

Also, am I the only one who thinks 'Seto is a lesbian' and 'Seto and Azusa were in love' to be slightly at odds?

I got one, Minagi is Ryoko's "sister" and that Washu is related to Mihoshi.
Most people don't even know the second fact.

Minagi isn't Ryoko sister, she's her daughter. I don't know why they came up with that. Even if it's in the original, it doesn't make sense. She's a combination of Ryoko and Yakage's genetic structure. It was Mihoshi who said they were sisters, and the others just went along.

Also, is this thread meant to focus on TM!R continuity, or the entire franchise?

And yes, Seto 'was' a lesbian. Or, more likely, bisexual with a preference for women. Mihoshi's grandmother was one of her partners when they were younger.

Just to clarify, The whole Tenchi franchise is what I meant, but it really seems the only one that needs explaining is the OVA, cause Universe and TINT I pretty much got right off the back....

I couldn't find any. I also think despise is too strong a word. I can only find any stories where they interact that are set in the past, when he was a kid or a young man, and the scene in GXP where they're in council, so it's hard to say how they feel about each other.

EDIT: Also, con someone confirm or deny this - according to a timeline I have, the shop starts in september and the hotsprings episode when Mihoshi appears is in december, which means there's two or three months of them living together (with Nobuyuki) that gets skipped over. Assuming this to be true, is anyone else curious about this time?

Now I'm curious about the time line, since it says Ryoko doesn't create the onsen until Janurary. Even if at minimum, that's still actually three months. No, this doesn't fit at all. Ah well.

If you are referring to the FAQ timeline, it came to us from a Japanese fan. Unfortunately, I can't source it. It is possible that the months are assumptions based on the month in which the OVA was released in Japan. That said, I do remember this being debated before and I'm pretty sure True Sheol laid out how that part of the timeline was accurate. Too bad those conversations are long lost now.

Well, like I said, I don't know how accurate it is. There is still a period of time before Mihoshi shows up. For example, Sasami states that it's been two weeks since they crashed on earth in the dub.
