Tales of the AFC's demise are inaccurate, sorta.

InvisionPlus (the host) decided to do a features update in April and in the process borked a lot
of stuff, mostly related to their servers. The only people with the rank to do anything were
not available to be notified about it, and thus it sat for about a month - rotting away.
Now they're looking for people to hire so they can fix the issues. Only one guy has the
key to the place so to speak, and he makes more money at another job if you get what I mean.
When we moved to IP, they had a staff of 15 or so and were the best in class at free forums.
My how time does fly...

As to the AFC, myself, ANB, and Full Gonzo are still on top of the matter.
We've submitted several help requests to IP+, of which there are many other
boards in the same condition. My Dual! forum having been with IP before we moved
AFC, it's functional, but also chained to IP currently.

Right now, we're trying to just wait and see if they'll repair themselves, then I'll buy
a database backup, and we'll probably move else ware. I've got a friend that does database
server stuff as a job, so I pointed him at IP in hopes of getting something going.

The forum itself can still be seen here:
http://www.invisionplus.net/forums/inde ... ub&act=idx
The regular URL won't work.

I've saved by hand, a few threads of interest to me and all the translation section threads.
Haven't really had the time to do more. Getting a db backup is the utmost priority.

Otherwise, might check ANB's blog as I think he was trying to post updates there when we had news.
I'm down sick at the moment, but I'll try to check in if ANB doesn't catch AFC related questions first.

As a user of the IPB software myself, I can confirm that it is a finicky beast not to be toyed with lightly. I've had upgrades fail resulting in an unusable board, then going through reinstall to get it working again. The moral of the story is - once you get IPB working the way you want, leave it alone. I wish you guys the best of luck getting your forum going again.

I haven't had much issue with it before... really if IPB didn't cost an arm, leg, and three eyes,
I'd probably buy a license and use their system for a new board.

As is, probably will have to look at a phpBB, SMF, or something.

Yeah, this latest outage has been a nightmare. I'll try to remember to get that alternate URL placed on the FAQ site when I get back home.

In my opinion, "Alternative Worlds" doesn't sound as interesting as "Parallel Worlds." I am fond of that "Parallel Worlds" forum. ^____^

Anyway, cheers to the TM! community.

Parallel World's Community Forum was the name of the last Dual forum.
I didn't want to appear too dual centric with the URL already having dualfans in it
for the time being.

You're welcome to come up with a better name... of four forums, no one else had much
to offer.

I know your pain JGZinv. I've had issues in the past where I relied on other people and sooner or later everything disappeared suddenly.

AFC members are more than welcome to post of course. If there's anything I can do to help you guys let me know.

I found this thread on conversion crawler scripts at the SMF community site. It does list Invisionfree as one of the sites it will work with, but I don't know about IP+. The people at SMF are usually very helpful with issues like you face JGZinv. Maybe this can help.

@ mj - the guy there neoneo is the same one that made the crawlers for phpBB, which I've
made a request from already. Unfortunately, what I need specifically is a crawler for IPB 1.3x which no one seems to have anymore. The one's lableled InvisionFree, or Forummotion, aren't for
the IPB versions of those forum, they are for the phpBB mode.

InvisionPlus is strictly IPB1.3.1 with some security patches. so I can't turn it into something else.

Thanks for the help though.

@ neelick - sent you a pm
