Well, so long as there's interest there's possibilities. Look at how long it took for OVA 3... the question is, do we want any more the way it's been handled recently? I sure don't.

For starters someone's got the slap Kajishima round the face for leaving his work open ended. It's the most frustrating thing I've ever encountered as an anime fan.

His work is fantastic, but then their open ends ruin them completely.

Heh well i have to agree... i just have to say that #3 didnt fulfill and it sure didnt wrap anything up. It is sad that such a great anime feels so incomplete.... don't get me wrong Nobuyuki's wedding was nice and all; it just was not a satisfying end.

At this point I've given up all hope for a OVA 4 thats animated....at the most hopefully we can get a doujinshi....What I'm rooting for is At least an episode long cameo episode from gxp 2 or ISM 2, which I can't see why the hell AIC wouldn't want to make ISM 2

OVA 3 just didn't have that feeling of awesomeness that drew me into the first two series and Universe... Even Tokyo. If that's the direction the Tenchi saga is going in, at this point I don't care if there is another addition.

But more things with Kiyone would be nice.

Tenchi Muyo OVA3 has left us with a lot of unawser quedtions. It did allow us to find out how Tenchi's mother Kiyone had died. I don't like the explanation of Kiyone's death being simply a result of old age. I feel that her death from old age should have been associated with an accident which she was in. The accident had only shorten her life.

I do want an OVA4. Noike didn't turn out to be the perfect rival. Only as girl who is Tenchi's age and a very dear friend can be the perfect rival. I do speculate that Tenchi has other siblings.

Tenchi mother's death does make sense if you were exposed to information available in Japan. The most important of which is that members of the Juraian Royal clans live long live because of their partnership with Royal Trees. Those Juraian without partners have a much shorter life span. So when Kyones live only as long as an unpartnered Juraian, then she must not have a Royal Tree partner.

The quest therefore is why did she not have a Royal Tree partner. Maybe she never leave the Earth? Or she have something wrong with her so that trees would not chose her? What ever the reason was, it is the new question to be answer in a OVA 4.

On an OVA 4 that doesn't suck...

...Well, I'd say I'm 'pensively optimistic'. I'm sure that, if the creator/s continued on, they'd try to avoid the kinds of mistakes that killed OVA 3. If not for the fans' happiness, then so that, when a few fans watched an actually good continuation, it would begin to bring it more fans - And if more fans enter, then they can get more money.

And while they probably don't care so much about our individual opinions and happiness, I'm sure they'll do a fine job if they think it will line their pockets. Who knows? There might even be a movement to make it up for the fans they let down - Laughable though the sentiment may seem to many of you.

I've enjoyed the Okuda manga, and I'm hungering for more Tenchi Muyo manga - So, at least we can count on a Tenchi Muyo! manga series not dashing our hopes. ...For a while.

The problem with your statement, Cowboy, is OVA3 was very popular were it counted, in Japan. We been told that OVA3 was well receive there, which was why the extra episode was added. So, as long as it remains popular in Japan, then Kajishima-Sensei will keep on writing storys like the OVA 2 and 3.

Personally, I think K-sensei does not give a yen about what we in the US think about his creation, he can write what he wants from that we hear from AIC.

Well, fine then.

Let me see if I can sum up everyone's view.

Tenchi Muyo! is ruined forever as an anime - Congratulations, I think I'll go ahead and give up all hope. Let's just give up on the Okuda manga, all Tenchi manga, on the enirety of Tenchi Muyo!, while we're at it, and not even hope that there will ever be another OVA! Because even if there was another OVA, there's no reason to hope that we'll enjoy it. So some fans in the U.S. didn't like OVA 3? Who cares? Kajishima obviously doesn't care about Tenchi fans if they're not from Japan! If we're not from Japan, apparently, we must assume that Kajishima wouldn't see us as being worthy of being fans! If that's not the case, then he isn't even aware of the American fanbase, and that is that. And from what I'm hearing, we should just prematurely decide that Tenchi Muyo is only downhill from here, when we've only not liked OVA 3, and have no idea if OVA 4 will be what we desire and need from Tenchi Muyo! We're all insignificant specks of dust, and should just throw up our hands and scream 'Tenchi Muyo is dead! Tenchi Muyo is dead!'

Because obviously, having hope is for idiots, or at the least, I alone am the idiot. We all should just give up hope and become apathetic to a truly excellent series, and I should just give up on the anime that got me into anime, even though I didn't even dislike OVA 3. Oh wait - If I didn't hate OVA 3, then I have no taste in anime, and don't deserve to call myself a Tenchi Muyo! fan.

We can't forget what history has taught us all - The best thing to do if there's any hope at all is to give up and feel sorry for ourselves.

So, have I summed up everyone's feelings on the matter?

There is no way TM! can possibly be dead. He's just taking his time is all. Look at the Mihoshi storyline for example. it wouldnt be hinted at if it wasnt going to happen.

He did promise that he would never wait 8 years between working on OVA's, and he has a few years yet before that promise is broken.

I have to say though, i think it would have been best if he started to work on it straight after seikishi. striking whilst the iron is still hot and all that.

Any news on the GXP novels? i think its been the only regular project hes ever worked on...

Regarding a GXP novel, I know that Kajishima-sensei had stated that he wanted to get #7 out this year, but I don't think that's happening so I'd look for it early 2011.

As for other stuff, Kajishima-sensei was planning a continuation of something, but no one was really sure what exactly he was referring to. I'm hoping a nice contributor will provide a news update from the 2010 Winter Comiket.

As to Japanese writers, I think you'll find that most of them are writing to a Japanese audience and not a Western one. I've read interviews with different manga-ka who express pleasant surprise when they learn of their work's popularity outside of Japan (in the U.S. for example). However, their target audience isn't a Western one, but remains a Japanese one. Thus, with OVA 3, the title was written for otaku fans of the series. Plus, Kajishima-sensei has shown himself to be a lover of day-in-the-life stories and sometimes those come at the cost of the main story, resulting in the infamous info-dumps.

As to the canon Tenchi series, officially, that's done. The story of Tenchi has concluded. The GXP story explores that universe more and has the one episode featuring Tenchii. Now, that doesn't mean that Kajishima-sensei can't go back to the well if he doesn't want to and he might. He might not. I have a feeling he might do another ISM series before doing another Tenchi title. We'll see though.
