"Religious Debate" is an excellent oxymoron. Faith and logic are mutually exclusive so trying to argue with another person over their religious beliefs is pretty much pointless. Not to mention that one's religious beliefs are often deeply engrained and very difficult to influence, and it would be wrong to try to anyways. One of America's founding tenets is "freedom of religion" that was borne of years of having the Church of England forced down our throats. So in light of that, we should all be respectful of each others beliefs and if your friend wishes for you to respect hers, then she must also be willing to respect yours. It's fine for her not to believe in God, but it is wrong for her to chastise you because you do believe Minagi. |
