I was just curious if it were ever explained why or how Achika (Tenchi's Mother) dies. It would seem even she knew that she would not be around for Tenchi's adolescent years. Bare in mind I haven't watched the Pretty Sammy or Rhyo-Ohki Series yet & Daughter of Darkness, I have every Tenchi movie made but one of those people who don't like the stories to end. |

Achika is the name of Tenchi's mother in Tenchi Universe and its two associated movies, and Tenchi in Tokyo. OVA3 finally resolves how Tenchi's mother dies. |

At the end of the first Tenchi movie, it is strongly implied that Achika eventually died because of the energy she used in the battle with Kain. |

I always got the feeling that Achika died because of an accident involving Tenchi and his power at some point early in his childhood. Or am I thinking of the Hasegawa novels? |

They did say in the movie that Tenchi's mom died because of her battle with Kain. But also you have to keep in mind that the movies appear to tie into the Tenchi Universe (Kiyone is present). So since Tenchi has several timelines, there can be multiple reasons why she died. |

The name of Tenchi's mother in each of the OVA series is Kiyone Masaki. I didn't like the way which Tenchi was inform about his mother's death. It was treated as if it was a bad joke. Yet, Kiyone's death was cause by Old age. She died at the of 248 years old. Yet, I am not able to agree with Kiyone dying from old age.. |
