I don't know why I just started thinking about this. The first time I encountered wasabi was at a Chinese buffet that happened to serve sushi. There was no label for the little green dish of doom, so I dished some up and smothered my little crab meat sushi thing in it and took that fatal bite. My mouth and nose immediately felt like they were in serious need of a fire hose, and my eyes watered like crazy! Afterwards, I made the rest of my family try the infamous stuff. So, anyone have stories of when you first tried wasabi? |

Sorry, no. I just remember not liking it. =D I saw someone eat an ice-cream sized one XD; took him to tears. |

I quite like it, first time I ever tried was at a Japanese restaraunt close to where I live. I've been eating it with sushi ever since then. |

I've only had it as a pringle flavour. It was nice and hot, but the taste was unpleasent. |

Being a fan of every type of spicy food, the first time I tried Wasabi was at a local Japanese Steakhouse, YEARS ago, its more of an after-taste spicy, it definitely enhances the flavor of whatever your eating thats for sure |

Most likely, you all just had a horseradish-mustard mixture with green food coloring. Even in Japan, that's the norm because Wasabi is more expensive and perishable. The taste is similiar though, the plants come from the same family. |
