| Post subject: | Prelude to Lesson 3 |
It's official, as I complete lesson 3, which is growing tedious, I've decided that I'm going to do mini dialogues at the start of each lesson as an example of what kind of grammar we'll be covering. As such, I have a makeshift "plot" going as well as some characters created. Here's the characters I have created so far, just to give you a heads-up. Mary Sue- Mary Sue is an otaku international student from America studying in Japan for the sole purpose of being in Japan when the latest manga, games, and anime come out. She’ll probably be spending most of her time in Akihabara, but don’t be fooled – she really studies hard! I mean, you can’t get into the GXP if your high school grades are bad. Oh, and Mary is actually 20; it’s just that most of her favorite anime take place in high school. Kenji Masara- Kenji is the only other die-hard otaku in Mary Sue’s class, and it’s not long before he takes a liking to Mary. It’s not because they have common interests, but because Mary’s older, in anime it’s fashionable to have an older girlfriend. He still hasn’t found a youthful-looking girl over the age of 1,000, but you take what you can get, right? His goal is to invent a machine that will breach the anime dimensions, allowing him to meet his role model, Washu Habuki, and his fantasy girl, Yuki Nagato, blushing, of course. Some of his teachers assume his eccentricities stem from his parents being away most of the time. Akemi Masara- Poor Akemi… She has the misfortune of being Kenji’s younger sister. For her eighth birthday party, Kenji insisted that she and her friends dress as anime mascots with her playing the role of Sasami. Unfortunately, on the day of the party, Kenji suffered an acute madness from seeing so many anime characters at once (his parents always forbade him from going to anime conventions) and now he thinks Akemi is Sasami! Her life was never the same. Kenji makes her dress as Sasami whenever she’s home, and he expects her to take on all the household duties. As such, between homework and housework, Akemi has this peculiar habit of randomly passing out. Kaoru Hashigara- Mary’s homeroom teacher and a fellow otaku, Ms. Hashigara teaches Japanese literature (literature, in this case, meaning anime and light novels) at Bakada High. She’s a pretty eccentric woman, though quite normal compared to Mary Sue. She enjoys cosplaying as Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin. Yoichi Yamashida- An austere teacher, Yamashida hates otaku, thinking they're shallow and dress funny – a very unlikable individual, indeed. He has strong aspirations of becoming the head teacher and fixing the school’s reputation. Akira Kobayashi- Mr. Kobayashi is the current head teacher, and seems to have a little crush on Kaoru. He’s an amiable fellow who tries to find the best in everyone, including Mary Sue. He seems totally oblivious to the fact that Yamashida wants to usurp him. |

It sounds like a fun idea for a roleplay so I wonder if we could try something like that ... with a lot of coaching from Akira-sensei? |
