09/12/2014: My previous attempt at renaming the directory to foil the spambots did not work. I'm trying now to change the login information for the SQL database. There may be a little bit of downtime but it shouldn't take long.
09/11/2014: I've been having problems with spambots preventing legit users from being able to sign up correctly. I've tried changing the directory from bbs to forums. Hopefully that will stop them and I can remove the retrictions stopping real users from signing up. Sorry if some of your bookmarks have become broken. They can be fixed by replacing bbs with forums in the properties.
This game is the greatest racing sim ever! I've had it for about 5 days now, and I have the International A and the Rally license, I'm 22.7% complete, and I've got $900,000+ in the bank! My garage looks like this:

1: '90 F090/s (690 hp)
2: '01 Corvette C5R race car (1039 hp)
3: '99 Mitsubishi 3000 GT (1089 hp)
4: '89 Mazda Miata (380 hp)

Does anyone else with a PS2 have this game? I'll be honest now...

As a Gamecube owner and fan, I do admit that Grand turismo 3 is one of the only games I'd like to have, but will never see on Gamecube.

I'll light up some incense at my Yamauchi Shrine each night to make this possible.

For good measure, I'll sacrifice this small fries and soda to get into the good grace of the Nintendo gods.

(stabs small fries and soda with straw)

...living free under my own flag...

*thinks back to old song* never gonna get never gonna get IT! on gamecube. HHAHAHAHhahhahah. The info Grand turismo 3 takes up alot of info. moreso than what that pathetic excuse for a DVD gamecube uses can handle. game cube lacks P0w3! HAHAHHAH

Bahh Grand Tourismo is fun for awhile but a much more fun game is GTA 3. It has incredible physics some really fun cars and a lot more gameplay then boring old races.

While Grand Tourismo is great for awhile I ahve found a lot more people finding GTA3 more fun and a lot less restrictive. It's just sooo much fun to drive around innocently or even wrecklesly racing away from cops.

Oh, and Steve I had to break it to you but if your talking about just processing power the GameCube is FAR superior to the GameCube. It can't push as many polygons but it can push them better, at faster speeds, with support for more and higher-quality textures, not to mention more memory for less loading times and more information being processed. The GameCube technologically is far superior to the PS2 so thats a little incorrect. Of course in comparison they are both technologically behind the XBox. Of course specifications don't sell consoles or make good games. The superior console has never won and it's clear the PS2 will remain the big tot on the playground for awhile to come.

But that still doesn't change that the GameCube is technologically superior, and easier to develop and port to.

^.^ What is Yuje looking at right now? ^.^

Join the Fight! | Why we fight.

Edited by: Yujenisis at: 1/4/02 1:01:11 am

Doesn't mean I do all the bad things. It's just got so much you can do. Grand Turismo 3 A-spec is DA BOMB!1111111 ^_^ I got the third license after like a half hour on the test. ^_^;; Very cool game, very realistic. I doped up a brand new Camaro SS to like 600 HP. I did the same to a 'Vette. But that one was at the 700 HP. How do get into "Increase Displacement"? I want to build a stroker LS6. You can make that sucker up to 427 CID! I want to do this to my new Camaro, Ken-ohki.
Beyond bishy...Uber Manly
Frisk me, cuff me, call me Shirley
El Paso Anime Society

Chevy, only certain cars can get the cylinders bored out. I remember from previous GT games only the Nissan Skyline and one other can get displacement up. That option is a rip-off, mainly 'cause it only gives you 5-15 extra hp.

Here's a quick hint--once you get a powerful car (300+ hp) and the IA liscense, go to the Endurance races and scroll to the very last one, Super Speedway. Make sure you have Racing Medium tires, because on this track your tires wear out within 10 laps (the computer cars only last for 8 laps before pitting). Your car should be able to get up to at least 180mph at the end of the sraights. Now, in qualifying and in the race, ride the walls. Simply steer into the turns, nut don't be afraid of the walls. Your speed will drop to about 130-140mph, which is 20-30mph faster than the computer cars can take the turns, and DO NOT BRAKE! If you do this, you will lap all the competitors, and win the race in about an hour, depending on your lap times.

Here's the good part--once you win, you get $200,000 for first place, and one of the following cars:

1: F090/s (a REALLY good Formula 1 car, pretty much unbeatable)
2: Chevrolet Corvette C5R race car
3: Tickford Falcon XR5 race car
4: Renault Clio race car (try NOT to get this car it's worthless)

After you get the prize money, you will see the replay, then the option screen. After you exit this, you will see a red screen with "Congratulations" at the top. This part is crucial BECAUSE YOU CAN SELECT WHICH CAR YOU GET!!! Now it will show shadows of the four cars that you can get, with one of them having a black disk underneath one of them. When you see this, press the X button and it will move to another car. You have to be fast, 'cause you only have 1/2 of a second to press it, and 5 seconds before it awards the car.

IMHO, you should try to get the F090/s, since it is super powerful (it has excellent handling and speed). If you don't get the car you want, just sell it (for about $250,000), and keep the prize money and race it again. You will soon find that this is the quickest way to make money.

EDIT: for more GT 3 strategy, go here

Neo Kamidake

Amazing but true...
If all the salmon caught in Canada in one year were laid end to end across the Sahara Desert, the smell would be absolutely awful.

Amazing but true...
There is so much sand in Northern Africa that if it were spread out it would completely cover the Sahara Desert.

Visit Neo Kamidake's Realm!
Edited by: Neo Kamidake at: 1/4/02 7:15:53 am

I'd like to make something clear.

PS2 is overhyped when it comes to polygon display.

Considering that common knowledge dictates that one source of lighting is halving the polygon count and that one texture displayed also halves the polygon count, the famous 75 000 000 polygons falls down to:

75,000,000/2 = 37,500,000 polygons

37,500,000/2= 18,750,000 polygons

So one the very best day of the PS2, with one texture minimum so that we can actually see the polygons and one source of lighting, you'll be able to see a maximum of only 18,750,000 polygons on the screen.

If you remember back when the Gamecube was not out yet and Miyamoto was running the 12 cars demo, he showed 12 cars made of 12 000 polygons each, rotating at 60 frames per second. Miyamoto said that the demo was using about 1/3 of the Gamecube's power.

In numbers, this equals to:

12 cars x 12 000 polys x 60 frames x 3 to get 100% of GCN's power =

25,920,000 polygons/s that the Gamecube can handle on its best day minimum. The reason I say minimum is that for sure the cars had a minimum of one source of lighting and one texture. If there were more, then pushing near 26 million polys per second is also conservative.

There you go. GCN has more polygon pushing power than PS2. Considering that GCN also has a Transform and lighting GPU incorporated, it can also better handle polygons than PS2 that does not had a T&L GPU.

As for GT3 being on Gamecube, I think it's feasible. 1.5 gig per disk seems sufficient. Take 2 disks if necessary.

...living free under my own flag...

Actually, ignoramus it's made by RockStar and independent company entirely. It's connections are with Take-2 Interactive if anything which is more affiliated with the PC then any console.

Sony has no control over GTA3, baka. So stop pretending you know what your talking about it's irritating and I know your better then that.

It is unlikely that the GameCube will see GTA3, but if it did it would be a lot better at least graphics wise.

^.^ What is Yuje looking at right now? ^.^

Join the Fight! | Why we fight.

I'd still rather race for real. Video games don't do it for me like real life racing. Drag racing is like the cheapest kind of racing there is. Then ISCA road coarse, then ISCA modified. I want to try the road coarse. My Camaro SS comes stock with pretty good suspension and a power steering cooler. I also have nice sticky street tires. First day of ametuer Friday night races is Feb. 1. Hopefully I'll have my Pro 5.0 quick ratio shifter, exhaust cut outs, and slicks by then. But then rules require a helmut and a drive shaft safety loop with slicks, so I might just get Mickey Thompson ET Streets. They wrinkle as well as slicks but still meet D.O.T rules for street tires. ^_^
Beyond bishy...Uber Manly
Frisk me, cuff me, call me Shirley
El Paso Anime Society

That's terribly adorable, Goku...are those pancakes? Hehe.

I don't like racing games. So I guess in a round-about way I agree with booty-boy.

Although in my opinion the only good all-racing games (not driving games) are Kart games like Mario Kart. Those are a lot of fun and the kind of thing you can have a group of friends and play and scream and yell and laugh at eachother.

The GameCube is great for parties and when the new Mario Kart comes out it's going to be even better. I dont play GT3 with other people...its boring. Yes, SSBM is really really fun to play with other people. But i get bored with that too sometimes. But getting Ganondorf was a real pain. Some of the charaters are going to take us a lot of multiplayer to get, like Mewtwo

"Fear the crazy bunny powers."
(>'.')> A Wookie Straw! <('.'<)
