Well that would depend entirely on what kind of game your asking about. ^.^ The fact is SquareSoft cares more about profits than making good games, infact that is why most people who have been playing RPGs for a long time and who once adored SquareSoft hate them now. It's about profits and quantity not quality, the President makes this known in both what he says and his actions. Like speeding development of a game compromising creativity and quality to get it out on the market (XenoGEARS), so many great talents have left the company because of this. Sure they make acceptable games...but not worth the sales, the hype, or the compliments. I will have to beat FFX myself to see whether FFX is an exception...but I played a little of it and I was not impressed with anything but the graphics. I am not shallow as most gamers are. I'm with Yuje on this one. Sure FMV are fun, but the game mechanics didn't evolve much over time for the FF games. It's been quite similar overall. And let us be honest...when someone says 50 hours of gameplay, most of it is spent building up characters in very repetitive manners...which is boring... They should make adventure games like Zelda OoT, but when you complete a certain task, you simply get stronger, etc. Players will be able to focus on other things! ^_^ Also, with new consoles out there, FMV will probably be less significant, as graphics almost match usual FMV sequence. Simple cut-scenes will do and take up much less space! This is another reason why Nintendo and Rare shine so much! They don't copy, they set trends and innovate! Whoohoo someone with some sense! Not denying that classics should be altered...but FF's combat engine was never very good, or for that matter were ever very original. MUCH better RPG's are to be found elsewhere. On the SNES, PC, and by just about ANY other company. Im all about games like Maximo and Link! They are planning 4 Zelda games for the GameCube and only the first one is going to use the much argued "CelShading" Which I think looks pretty cool and shows off the power of the GameCube's 2d pixel shading technology. ....Wha? To say FFX is a bad game....it just....doesn't fit. So far it has done nothing but please me. They really went all out in trying to do something different with the technical aspects (dubbing, sphere grid, the AMAZING new battle system) yet keep to great storylines of games more like Chrono Trigger. You have to play FFX, Yuj. Yuje is just a Nintendo fanboy that won't admit there are good games on non-Nintendo systems. SSB Melee is a rehash, Wave Race is a rehash, Luigi's Mansion isn't anything new, The only original game on Gamecube is Pikmin, and Pikmin isn't THAT original or groundbreaking.

Show me a game that is like Luigi's Mansion? There aren't that many out there. Also, Pikmin IS GREAT! It's new as well! ^_^ I love it and every time I play, I find something new that I didn't see before! ^_^ As for rehashing, tell me which game on the PS2 is not a rehash? As for Xbox, the titles are different, but games are quite similar to PS2. Let'e not forget that we live at a time when almost every concepts have already been used. It's quite hard to come up with an idea that hasn't been exploited yet. ^_^ Also, it's about gameplay innovations. Here, Nintendo rules them all. ^_^ Mario 64 had no equal, and yet, still was called MArio 64...not rehash, right? ^_^ Zelda OoT was truly unique. Heck, all the Zelda game itnroduced something unique! Same for all the Marios! There were shooters before, but I know that when I played Star Fox for the first time, its incredible fun got to me more than other shooters! ^_^ Pikmin is just the tip. I'm sure Nintendo is going to come up with new ideas soon. ^_^ As for SSBM, I didn't like the original that much, but love this one because there's so many options and tasks to be performed to unlock all the secrets! ^_^ Over 300 different trophies to get! ^_^ hehehe ^_^ There, enough fanboying for one morning. ^_^ <img src="http://www.virtue.nu/quytam/alfred.jpg" border="0"> </a> ...living free under my own flag...
