Nothing like, say half life 2/CS source then, where you spend hours running around just shooting things I'm loving WoW, I like RPG's and some the aspects of WoW in particular appeal to me. I really like the Hord vs Alliance thing (although I'm not really much of a PvP player). I love just running around acting out my character, and doing my own thing in a large detailed world. Particularly as the world already has a pretty detailed history built up in the warcraft strat games. The only real thing I could level against it is the high level of n00bs on the Alliance side, especially when they disregard all the IC rules on an RP sever, but I can put up with this, and at least you don't see names like "sup4LeetH4x0rOfDOOM!!!11" |

But HL2/CS cuts right to the fun you don't have to put in 24 hours of gameplay to experience a fun raid. The reviews this game received also where the most biased I have ever seen every site gave it atleast a 8+ but the game was no different then EQ or DAOC. All it did was incorporate the ideas from those games into the warcraft world. Maybe one day we will get an RPG where instead of just sitting there pressing A to attack and sitting back while you fight a creature we will get a game where you can do something. A legend of mana or fable type mmorpg where you press the keys to swing your sword instead of pressing hotbuttons and following the same routine to kill the same creature over and over again. These mmorpgs keep having the same slow combat system like that in CT and FF. But what they forget is those games may have had a boring combat system but they had A STORYLINE!!! What ever happened to the storyline in these rpgs there is none at all you follow the same linear path of leveling as everyone else and do the same linear quests. Hopefully Middle Earth Online can break away from this slow paced mmorpg style because they have a setting that should not be wasted. You may be thinking im a rpg hater well let me tell you ive had a lot of experience in the mmorpg field. Slizerzak Ironstorm Lvl 57 Warrior Cazic Thule server OLDSCHOOL EQ!!! Ill also say I wasted a good deal of time on that game lol |

I enjoy many types of game, FPS, RPGs, etc. I've enjoyed what I've played so far of WOW, though it is bewildering. I must admit it is my first MMORPG experience. Though the controls isn't really a matter of pressing the same button over and over, more clicking an enemy, deciding on a first attack and stratagy, then doing other stuff like chatting while your character automatically batters the helpless enemy. I rather liked PSO too, for its sense of community. Though I have yet to really get stuck into WOW community wise... Also, what IS the difference between different types of server? |

The two main types of server are PVE and PVP. Basically on a PVP server, unless you're in a friendly area your PVP flag is automatically activated (so other players can attack you), this means you're likely to be killed much more often Lastly there is RP servers, they are PVE servers, but in with some added rules. There is name policy, so you have to have a reasonable sounding name that fits in with the feel of the game, and you should always talk in character when using /s in whisper and party etc it's up to those involved. Also general is "supposed" to be fairly IC but, partially in the alliance, it is often filled with people speaking fuckwit, although some people try to stamp it out it tends to lead into flame wars :/ Personally I don't understand why all these people want to use an RP server if they aren't going to try and act IC, there are only two RP servers, and both are on high population, while there are loads of PVE/PVP servers... |

One of the great things about WoW is that it's still fun to solo most areas. It's not impossible to go and kill something without a group. Also Dave Chappelle plays it. |
