Hey all, I believe a fair few forum goers here enjoy the works of Lovecraft, and also a fair few of us enjoy games, so I thoguht I'd point out some stuff I recently noticed... .... First of all Dead Rising. The Main Character. Frank... West. I think this is definately a reference to "Herbert West: Reanimator". But it isn't the only Capcom reference. Yes, we all noticed the Lovecraftain nature of RE4, but I say that RE has always had a Lovecraft influnence, just a less well known than the Cthulhu part of his tales... In fact, it is the same one above, to Hubert West, Reanimator. Behold my STARTING DISCOVERY! ... Albert Wesker = Herbert West. I mean, even the Ker on the end of his name has a somewhat "T" like sound to it. And they are kinda similar. Hubert West became so obessed with his Research to Cure Death, he lost all sight of morality, even kidnapping someone and killing them, just so he had the chance to test on him. Wesker betrayed his teamates for Umbrella's research. And of coruse, both research is very similar. They also both seem to have similar cold and dominating personalities, if memory serves me well... I'm even wondering if Wesker matches, loosely, the way West is described to look... hhhmmm, actually I'm not sure he is described... http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lo ... imator.htm But anyway... that's my connection theory stated.... Now discuss it, or come up with your own.... Try to keep the Lovecraft theme though... ... and anyone pointing out the connection between Call of Cthulhu:DCOTE and the works of Lovecraft will be glared at... |

I love H.P. Lovecraft and have posted on a different (non-anime forum) about him. His stories give me nightmares. |

Oh, and there's the "Shadow over Hackdirt" sidequest in Oblivion. One of the best quests in that game, I may add. |
