I started watching the whole Tenchi series on Toonami a few months ago after flipping around on the channels. After seeing a few episodes, I was immediately hooked. I plan to purchase the OAV's on tape (because they are the finest of the three series in my opinion), and was wondering about the comics. I looked at the website's info on the comics and I am confused on what to buy first. Is there a difference between the comics and the graphic novels? What do you recommend that I get? Please keep in mind that my only knowledge of the Tenchi stuff so far is off of all of the episodes - Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo(bleah). One last question: are the comics and/or graphic novels in english? The graphic novels are compilations of the comics. Basically, shortly after each series is complete they release a graphic novel which contains all the comics in that series.
