Post subject: Heads up

This is for all those people hear who live so close to the border that they might go across it just for eating out.

Last night I had no plans. My best friend was working late and now has a baby, so he was done. My second best friend was driving his life away and wouldn't be back until around 11 pm. So, my dad comes home and asks if any of the sibs or me want to go to dinner in Jaurez, Mexico. We all said yes, since dad was buying. So, I left my wallet here at the house. We get to the bridge and dad asks if we all have ID. Now he asksI thought. Of course I didn't so, we said screw it and went across any way. Ate diner at a nice resteraunt, fed the five of us Cheatobriand meat and drinks for only $130 and change. Come back across and the imagration wouldn't let me slide.
So, I sent my dad back to get my wallet. I thought it was in my car. He got home jumped in my car, and drove back (about 16 miles, one way). I called him and asked if he had found the wallet. He didn't even look. I told him to pull over and look before he got any further from the house (already about 7 miles). It wasn't there. He phoned the house and it was there, in my room. Dad 180º and heads back to get it.
My brother was feeling bored and nice so, he suggested we go back across the bridge and have a few drinks. Dollar beers and a dollar scotch and soda water. Killed the bloated feeling and some time.
Back across again and waited for another 15 minutes before dad called and said he was near the port of entry. Brother went and got me my wallet. I gave it to the migra and he ran my license and finally I was back. What an ordeal.
Lesson: Take your ID with you when ever you go out, even if your not expected to pay.
